The Grant County Series by Karin Slaughter – Mini-Review – Reading Between the Pages

welcome to my mini-review of the grant county series!

Over the past few months, I’ve slowly but surely worked my way through the grant county series. I read book 1 (blindly) and listened to books 2-6 in audiobook format. Instead of posting reviews of every book, I decided to do a series of mini reviews.

The Grant County Series is Jeffrey and Sara’s on-again, off-again saga combined with fabulous mysteries and suspense! and then there’s lena – oh boy, lena, lena, lena…what are we going to do with lena?!

book #1 – blind

This is the only book I wrote a full review on. you can find it here.

wow! what a great start to a fantastic series! Karin Matanza wasted no time giving us a sad but intriguing mystery. i love jeffrey and sara! there is a lot of tension between these two characters and the complexity of their relationship is quite apparent. he was really excited to see where their relationship would go as the series progressed. my rating: 4/5

book #2: kiss cut

I loved how this book opened! We find out about the current state of Jeffrey and Sara’s relationship and there’s a shocking murder. I found the subject of this book to be a bit difficult to read. That said, I enjoyed this book and didn’t find out the mystery until the end. what’s not to love about that! my rating: 4/5

book #3: a cold and weak fear

This book started off strong! seemed to have a developing racial history that I thought might be interesting. at some point it deviated from that and I was a bit disappointed in the ending. as a whole it felt out of focus to me. my rating: 3/5 stars

book #4 – indelible

The first chapter of this book was amazing! I was immediately drawn to it and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. in a couple of chapters, there was a flashback of jeffrey and sara when they started dating. No, no, no, I want to know what’s going on today! After getting over my initial irritation, I fell in line with the story and realized that this was the perfect way to share Jeffrey and Sara’s story. my rating: 5/5

book #5 – unfaithful

This book focuses on a very religious group, almost a cult. it felt a bit slower to develop than some of his other books in this series, but my attention never wavered. the ending was excellent and really intense! It ended with a huge cliffhanger and the best part is that I didn’t have to wait to pick the next book! my rating: 4/5

Book #6: Beyond Reach

wow wow wow – that was the end! I really enjoyed how this book came full circle for the series. there were multiple references to book one, blind. At times the story had me on the edge of my seat and worried about the characters. When I got to the end I couldn’t believe my ears. I had to back up the audiobook and make sure I heard what I thought I had. my rating: 4.5/5
