The second book in the Marie v Snyder series of studies is about “facing the past, controlling the future.” Yelena is taken in by a master mage and is eventually reunited with her family (mother, father, and brother) in the southern lands of Sitia. her suspicious brother is determined to prove that she is an Ixian spy to make her guilty, though he never succeeds. Yelena is identified as a true seeker of souls, a rare magic that will eventually help her trap the wizards and graze the featherstone. however, there are several events that separate these two parts as she deals with the threat of losing her lover valek in the fierce flames caused by the sorcerers. Eventually, Yelena uses Opal Cowan’s special powers to trap her enemies in a glass shell that Valek hides.
