Avid lifelong shoppers will remember when avid on prince first opened its doors in 2011, we didn’t just bring new books and gifts, but also used books. With many changes not only in our store, but also in the rapidly changing landscape of business in the city, we’ve realized it’s time to get back to used book resale. If you have books you think a keen reader could love again, read more below and visit us during our designated drop-off times to redeem your books for used book credit. this is a small project that we hope, with your help, will grow over time.

While this show is new (the books certainly won’t be), we’re approaching it in a whole new way – for us! our policies are based on how other small bookstores have found a way to offer used book exchanges and stay vital and prosperous.
As of January 2020, used books became avid by five points. all used book credit earned on prince has been transferred to five points.

We currently only offer store credit which can only be applied to the purchase of used books and is limited to 50% of each transaction. For example, if you have $10 in used book credit and you’re buying a $12 book, you can use $6 of your credit toward your purchase.
Sorry, we don’t buy books with cash.

Depending on the quality and demand of the books you bring, you’ll receive 30-35% of our price in used book credit. we credit based on the current used market value of the book; as such, high-quality titles will receive more credit. Allow 1-2 weeks for the credit to be applied to your account.
Your credit will be stored in our point of sale system and will never expire.

our selection of used books is located in our five points bookstore. prices are penciled on the inside covers and on the covers below the ex libris stamp of the black cat cubby. delete the price, write your name and welcome your book to its new home!
all used book sales are final. Used books purchased from the Avid Bookstore may be accepted as used book credit per our redemption guidelines.

Due to minimal storage and display space, we ask that youlimit book deliveries to 20 or fewer at a time for evaluation. Returns will only be accepted at our five point store on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. m. to 5:00 p.m. m.. this time is subject to change as we improve our exchange system. Please note that the holiday season (Thanksgiving through New Years) will affect our delivery availability. check here and on social media for announcements.

Please allow our staff 30 minutes to see what we can and cannot take. If we determine that we cannot give credit for a book after it has been accepted, we will contact you and hold it for 1 week or donate it to a local charity.
We only accept books in very good to excellent condition. please do not bring us books that are heavily underlined, torn, moldy, dirty, moldy, crumbling, infested with pet hair, or just generally gross. hard covers must have their original dust jacket.
we do not accept mass market paperbacks (4″x7″ size), magazines, reader’s digest, encyclopedias, coloring books, business, finance, computing, romance, westerns, sports, textbooks, rare books and non-book items (cds, dvds, etc.).
we want a lot of the following:
- contemporary paperback fiction (including mystery and science fiction)
- classic paperback fiction (including mystery and science fiction)
- contemporary hardcover fiction (published in last two years)
- graphic novels (for adults and children)
- children’s fiction
- picture books and classic children’s literature
- science and nature (published in the last two years)
- bird watching
- poetry
we only want some of the following:
- art, design and architecture
- cookbooks
- hardcover contemporary fiction (published in the last 10 years)
- history and news (published in the last two years)
- contemporary crafts and DIY
- memoirs
- philosophy
- spirituality, personal growth, and new was
- yoga and exercise
- essays
- stories
- young adult fiction
- reference
- dramas and plays
If you are unable to visit us during our limited delivery hours, we can make an exception as long as you contact us (by email or by phone at 706.352.2060) at least one week in advance of your planned visit and we confirm an exception with you. .
