A Conspiracy of Tall Men, is a well-written, suspenseful thriller that follows the main character, Linus Owen. the character is a conspiracy theory professor whose wife mysteriously dies in a plane crash. In order to uncover the truth behind her death, Linus Owen recruits two of his friends and they embark on a cross-country search for the truth. Along the way, Linus reveals details of his failed marriage, but that doesn’t stop him from searching for the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death. Along the way, the trio meet many interesting people and it becomes clear to Linus that they are involved in a dangerous cover-up and the goal is simply to stay alive. The book became the Book Club of the Month selection and officially launched Hawley’s career as a writer.
