Online book marketplace abebooks, which specializes in rare books, has detailed exactly which editions are worth far more than their cost price, ranging from £200 to over £50,000.

Recent examples of successful finds include the upcoming auction of a “pristine” first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which is one of 500 hardcover copies printed in 1997, 300 of which were sent to schools and children’s libraries. .
