adam silvera is an american author. he was born and raised in the bronx, new york. he describes himself as tall for “no reason”. Before working in publishing and writing, he was a bookseller. he eventually went on to work in children’s publishing at a literary development company.

even if this procedure were an incredible cure, aaron is suspicious. things like this don’t show up in places like projects if they really work. and even if they do, they won’t offer them to everyone to try. Aaron remembers growing up in poverty, and remembers how his father committed suicide in the apartment they lived in. she remembers how all of his friends seem to shrug their shoulders. so even though he’s pretty suspicious, aaron still thinks about doing the procedure.

aaron doesn’t know if he should go through with the procedure. however, with the support of his girlfriend by his side, aaron feels he could move on. maybe his brother and his exhausted mother aren’t necessarily support systems, but he has his girlfriend. then a unique person named thomas enters his life.

thomas is like a breath of fresh air. aaron has always thought of himself as a little weird or hard to make happy, but it feels so easy to be happy when he’s with thomas. when they’re together, thomas makes aaron feel like he’s totally normal. he is obsessed with books and spends time with him, and they even have nicknames for each other. It feels really easy to be himself when he’s around Thomas, and he barely thinks about his girlfriend.

suddenly, aaron realizes he’s gay and can’t stop being gay. Desperate, he begins to consider the procedure more than ever. it’s a way of getting around the complex questions he has for himself and also a way of really forgetting not only his past, but also his identity. griffin is the main character of the story is all you left me. he faces tragedy from the start, as his first love is lost in a drowning accident. theo was his boyfriend and griffin is absolutely devastated. they had a special relationship filled with funny, romantic moments and inside jokes.

He is having a hard time dealing with his pain and wants to hold on to all aspects of his past with him. On top of that, Griffin has O.C.D. and she’s not making looking at her boyfriend’s life any easier. Griffin had told Theo about his OCD and Theo was trying to help him deal with it. When Theo enters college in California, Griffin doesn’t want his boyfriend to leave him behind, so she breaks up with him. However, at that moment he knows that he still cares about Theo and that they will find their way back to each other.

griffin eventually develops a friendship with jackson, who was theo’s last boyfriend whom he started dating in college. Griffin tries to be happy for him, but he’s hurt too and his OCD is getting worse. he then heard that jackson wanted theo to stop being friends with his other friends, and griffin really had to wonder if he should go through with it altogether to avoid getting hurt. but then theo drowns and his whole world changes.

jackson comes to theo’s funeral in new york and stays for a while. Griffin and Jackson start talking to each other about everything despite their differences. At first, it feels like a somewhat healthy way to process Theo’s passing with someone who knew him. But when Jackson starts acting strange, Griffin begins to wonder what’s going on with Theo’s ex-lover.

Griffin eventually begins to think that something is up with the slippery and suspicious ex. Jackson shows signs of something that looks like guilt, and Griffin begins to feel like he’s hiding something. Once Griffin begins to have second thoughts about his ex, he will stop at nothing to get to the truth. however, just because he has his concerns, does that mean he’s right? what if it’s not jackson that’s the problem, it’s griffin himself who can’t be trusted?

It’s hard to trust the narrator at times in this novel, but griffin is so upset about losing theo that he’s happy to have someone to relate to. theo’s death is still fresh in his mind and the ocd is getting worse. the pain of losing him and never really making amends weighs heavily on griffin’s spirit. But to truly get over Theo and the past, he must come to terms with everything that has happened and try to heal, for better or worse. Pick up this book and enjoy this Silvera thriller for yourself!
