Amazon’s Kindle isn’t the only electronic reading device on the market today. when you want to read an e-book on the go, you can choose from the barnes & noble nook, sony reader, and other similar devices, many of which support the popular epub and pdf formats. With these other readers you can buy books directly in online stores like ours or on the devices themselves. If you want to read ebooks purchased from our store, you have several options:

At the time of writing, it was not possible to read books purchased outside of the b&n store in any of the nook apps (for iphone, ipad, android, pc or other devices). a future update may change this. if this happens, we will update these instructions to include the use of those applications.

purchase and download e-books in our store

If a book is available as an e-book in our store, the available formats and prices will be displayed on the product page, as highlighted in the image below. Click the buy button to purchase the e-book.

Once you have completed your purchase, your e-book will be available for download on your account page (accessible at the top of any page on our sites).

Once on your account page, all available formats for your purchased eBooks will be displayed as links. Click the link for the appropriate format (either EPUB or PDF for Nook and Sony Ereaders) to download the eBook to your computer. make sure you remember where you saved the file; you will need it when you transfer the eBook to your device.

Once you’ve downloaded an e-book, you need to transfer it to your e-reading device. follow the specific instructions for the nook / nook color and nook tablet.

  • copy the epub file from its location on your computer to the myfilesbooks folder in the mynook window.
  • en your nook hd or nook hd+, from the home screen, tap library and then tap options and then tap refresh to refresh the books folder from your corner.

to read a book using a nook hd / nook hd+

  • From the home screen, tap library and then tap books.
  • find the book in your library or use any of the the other library navigation methods
  • once you find the book, tap the cover to open it

To move to the next page of the book, swipe the screen from right to left. To return to the previous page, swipe the screen from left to right. To change the size of the text on the screen, touch the reading screen, touch text and touch a text that matches the font size you want.

Please note that laterally transferred book covers will not display in the library.

to read an e-book in the corner

  • find your book and then touch the cover

To change the size of the text on the screen, tap the touch screen, then tap text. touch the letter a in the menu that appears to adjust the size of the text. tap the x button or the ebook page where the text appears to read again.

Another easy way to manage e-books in your corner is to use free e-book management software for your computer, like caliber. These programs will allow you to transfer eBooks to and from your corner, as well as read non-DRM protected files on your computer. basic instructions on using caliber can be found below.

  • open the reader library software and connect your reader to your pc or mac with a usb cable.
  • log in to your reader store account.
  • within the reader library, locate the purchased epub file on your hard drive.
  • drag your ebook from your library onto the “reader” icon located in the left navigation area of ​​the library software of the reader.
  • click on the reader icon to verify that your new book has been successfully transferred to your device.
  • once confirmed, you can now unplug the usb cable and read your book on your e-reader.

using caliber to upload files to your nook, nook tablet, nook color, or sony reader

caliber is a program that helps manage the library of e-books on your computer. you can download it from http://calibre-ebook.com/download. more complete instructions on its use can be found at http://calibre-ebook.com/user_manual/.

Transferring eBooks to different caliber devices is quite simple. there are more detailed settings that allow for customization, but we’ll stick to the basics here.

  • download and install caliber.
  • launch caliber.
  • click “add books” and browse to the directory where you downloaded your ebook files (epub and/or pdf). the files will appear in list view in the main (library) window.
  • connect your e-reading device (nook, nook tablet, nook color, or sony reader) to your computer via a usb cable .
  • To transfer the new files to your e-reader, highlight the files you want to have on your e-reader and click the “send to device” button at the top of the window and select your device . or alternatively drag your file from your library to the “device” button at the top.

do not run sony’s reader library software at the same time as caliber. if you want to use both programs, make sure you only use one at a time. it is recommended that you disconnect your ereader from your computer when you finish using one program before starting the other.

can i share my ebook files?

When you purchase an eBook, that copy is intended for your personal use. Although you may copy an eBook file for use on another device you own, such as a portable e-reader or smartphone, you may not share copies with others. You also may not sell used e-books; ownership is yours alone and cannot be transferred.

To protect against unauthorized copying, some of the eBooks we sell in PDF format include Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology. this technology limits the use of purchased e-books to a maximum of six devices. adobe digital editions is required to view these drm protected files.

other ebooks are sold without drm and can be copied easily on up to six devices. however, you may not share these eBooks with other people.
