aldous (leonard) huxley was an english author of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry and critic. He was born in Godalming, Surrey, England on July 26, 1894 into a prominent middle-class family. During his youth he had a serious accident, which left him partially blind. this was actually the main reason why he gave up his dream of becoming a scientist. So, he decided to pursue a literary career. After graduating from Balliol College in 1916 with honors at Oxford University, he published – the same year – his first collection of poetry, under the title ‘The Burning Wheel’. Throughout his career as a novelist, Aldous Huxley wrote 47 books, but he became best known for his novel ‘Brave New World’ (published in 1931), which is actually a dark vision of the future. In addition, this book is considered one of the most significant novels of the 20th century. Furthermore, Aldous Huxley also wrote non-fiction books, such as ‘The Doors of Perception’ and ‘The Perennial Philosophy’. His last novel, ‘Island’, was published in 1962. The main story of this book is about a Pacific island, where an ideal society has flourished for some 120 years. In addition to novels, he also published a series of travel books, plays, stories, as well as essays on philosophy, sociology, the arts, and religion. some of the most common in his work include mustticism, parapsychology, and spirituality. Furthermore, all his books describe how worried he was about the dangers that threatened civilizations, that he couldn’t stand up to defend them.

his debut novel ‘crome yellow’ was first published in 1921 and then in september 2004. the story of the book is about denis stone, a naive young poet, who is invited to stay in chrome, a nice house in the English countryside. he basically accepts the invitation to spend his weekend there, because anne wimbush, the niece of the owner of the house, is also going to spend a few days there. She is a pretty young woman, a few years older than him, and she knows that Denis has an accident with her. she in fact, she is sure that if he proposes to her, she will accept her proposal. when he arrives at the country house, he actually finds himself in the center of a group of aristocratic and wealthy artists. Denis’s hosts, Henry Wimbush and his wife Priscilla de El (very exotic looking) are joined by a diverse group of guests, whose opinions and intrigues ensure that his stay is a memorable one. denis is a naive character and is in love with anne wimbush who loves spirituality. but eventually his stay turns out to be a disaster after his feeble attempts to lure the girl of his dreams. for his part, the owner of the house, mr. Wimbush has been writing about his house and family, excerpts of which are given. Additionally, other characters in the story include Mr. barbecue-smith and mr. scogan and more. all guests spend most of their time at the lodge eating and drinking. but the most illuminating character is jenny, who is deaf, she is around 30 years old and remains aloof, writing her diary. when denis reads it, she understands that there are other people besides him in the world, who are capable of observation and sensitivity. ‘Chrome Yellow’ is considered a precursor to Huxley’s brilliant novel ‘Brave New World’ and indeed some of the characters in this book appear in other books as well. Furthermore, this book is actually a portrait of Lady Ottoline Morrell’s House (Garsington Manor), a house where authors such as T.S Eliot, Bertrand Russell, Yeats, Huxley and many others used to gather to write. The first time Aldous Huxley visited Garsington Manor was in 1915, and there she met Russell, Clive Bell, Lawrence, and the painter Duncan Grant, among many others.

is a comic novel by aldous huxley, the story of the book takes place in london at the end of the first world war and the plot begins just after the end of the war. the characters of ‘antic hay’ have to deal with the lack of values and stability that this terrible conflict brought. in fact, everyone is lost by the situation, but at the same time they try to find happiness and enjoy life again, even though everything is out of control in a comical and ridiculous way. the plot mainly follows the adventures of theodore gumbril junior, a young man, who is the main character of the book. he is a teacher who quits his job as an oxford school teacher to pursue a fatuous scheme to invent and sell pants and make a fortune. he is also an architect, he has a great passion for christopher wren and lives his life building miniature architectural models. it is an emotional book, which is full of bohemian characters; there is the decadent mercaptan, writer of irrelevant academic articles and womanizer; casimir lypiatt, who is a middle-aged poet, painter, and musician, woefully bad at all of them and obsessed with his vision of the ideal artist as moral agent. There is also James Shearwater, who is a psychologist but has no interest in understanding social issues. Of course, there are also several women in the plot. myra viveash is a dark muse with many admirers and rosie is actually a bored housewife. after the first world war, all these characters saw drastic changes in their lives, such as in politics, arts, music, etc. in fact, they found themselves lost in a new world and took on eccentric behavior, which can only be seen as a way of coping with the stress of all these changes in their lives. In this book, Huxley reflects all the changes that occur at that time.

huxley died of cancer in 1963, in los angeles, california. During his lifetime he was a member of the Huxley family, which also included prominent members such as Thomas Henry Huxley, who was his grandfather, Julian Huxley (his brother), and Andrew Huxley (his half-brother). /p>
