It’s sad when young mothers abandon their newborns, but it’s amazing how great people they can be. Andy Mcnab, born December 28, 1959, was abandoned on the steps of a hospital in Southwark, London, cradled in a Harrods shopping bag.
This beginning seemed to have a very negative impact on his life. Mcnab was a high school dropout and never did particularly well in school. he worked odd jobs, usually for people he knew, changing occupations often. Soon, Mcnab turned to a life of petty crime, committing several robberies and finally getting arrested for one of his crimes in 1976.

being arrested must have given mcnab time to reflect on his life, because it was after that time that he decided to start a military career. this was not easy for him either. mcnab failed the entrance test to join the british army as a pilot. however, he managed to become an enlisted member of the proud Royal Green Jackets at the tender age of sixteen.
andy mcnab’s military career seemed to overshadow all of his past failures in life. Although he was once a criminal, he became a key member of the military. Mcnab was stationed in Northern Ireland’s South Armagh from 1977 to 1978. In 1979 he was promoted to the post of Corporal First Class.
