Before beginning her writing career, author Anne worked as a journalist for more than 20 years. she worked first at the alburquerque newspaper and then at the santa fe new mexican. In addition to these professions, she has also worked as a gastronomic critic since 2001 for the Alburquerque newspaper. Author Anne began her writing career in 1984 with the release of her first non-fiction book called “A Kid’s Guide to Santa Fe.”
It was not until 2013 that she published her first novel, which was titled ‘the daughter of the spider woman’. This mystery novel is set in the Southwest. Anne goes on to describe the adventures of Jim Chee, Joe Jumphorn, Bernadette Manuelito, made popular by her father.
the book won the wwa spur award in the category of best first novel of the year 2013. this was followed by his second mystery novel entitled ‘rock with wings’, which quickly became one of the most popular novels new york times bestsellers of the year.

along with the help of her photographer husband named don strel, anne has been working on a project for the university of new mexico press. This project included the introduction and photographic reissue of one of her father’s non-fiction essay books.
in the introduction part, the author anne described how she felt growing up as one of tony hillerman’s 6 children. She once again collaborated with her husband on a novel titled ‘Jardines de Santa Fe’. This book became a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Award and also won the New Mexico Award. Author Anne and her husband often collaborate on New Mexico Press Women’s books.

As a food critic for New Mexico’s largest newspaper, El Diario de Alburquerque, author Anne often has the opportunity to visit all the food palaces and 4-star restaurants in her state, including Española, Taos, Cerrilos, and Madrid. /p>
most of the reviews she has done on the various food palaces have helped her win first place from the national federation of women in the press. based on her experience as a food critic for so many years, the author anne has developed the plot of her book entitled ‘sabores de santa fe’.

Knowing her experience as a food critic, many organizers of food-related events ask her to volunteer as a judge. one of the events she volunteers for is the Girl Scout Cookie Caper. this event had desserts made with girl scout cookies and she liked them a lot.
Currently, the author Anne is working on developing the plot of her next novel. She also serves as the director of the WordHarvest Writers Workshops as well as the Tony Hillerman Writers Conference. She helped establish both organizations in 2001. The Tony Hillerman Writers’ Conference is held in November in Santa Fe. The Jumphorn and Chee series, written first by author Tony Hillerman and later by author Anne Hillerman, consists of a total of 20 books published between the years 1970 and 2015.
All of the books in the series feature Joe Leahorn and Jim Chee, who work as lieutenants in the Navajo Tribal Police. The first book in the series written by author Anne is titled “Spider Woman’s Daughter”. It was published by Harper Publishers in 2013.
At the beginning of this book, Bernadette Manuelito, who works as a police officer on the Navajo Nation, is shown to be enjoying breakfast with her colleagues. Soon, he sees a truck screeching into a parking lot and then hears the sounds of gunshots. When he cleared the dust from the gunshots, he saw someone very close to her lying in a pool of blood.
After the incident, the victim fights for his life in the hospital while all the cops in the squad chase the gunman, along with the help of the fbi. Bernadette also wants to be involved in the investigation, but is not allowed due to a regulation that prevents eyewitnesses from participating in an investigation. he is ordered to leave, but doesn’t seem to relax.

When she learns that her husband, Sergeant Jim Chee, is in charge of finding the gunman, she becomes even more uneasy about getting involved. As the two proceed with the investigation, they learn that one of the old cases involving retired police inspector Joe Leaphorn might be connected to the shooting in some way.
Finding important clues each time they dig deeper into old and new cases together, the husband and wife pair continue to get closer to the truth. the search brings them ever closer to a deadly killer, who seems to stop at nothing to avoid being caught. one of the other books written by author anne hillerman is titled “rock with wings”.

At the beginning of this book, the married couple of Bernadette Manuelito and Jim Chee, who work as police officers for the Navajo Tribal Police, are shown to be investigating a pair of puzzling cases under the guidance from his mentor, the legendary joe leahorn.
After doing a good job for a relative, Jim and Bernadette get a chance to stay away from their schedule at the police station. but, two important cases make them return from their vacations. they are manufactured to work the cases separately, one in monument valley and the other in shiprock. Chee’s investigation leads him to find some random clues that lead him to a missing woman and a thug.
On the other hand, Bernadette finds herself very busy with a drug bust gone awry, the discovery of a fire that started out of nowhere, and the investigation of a solar energy project that could have serious consequences on Navajo land. . Under the guidance of Lieutenant Joe Leahorn, Bernardette and Jim Chee navigate several unexpected obstacles and face a series of challenges that test their commitment, courage, and skills.
