The Babysitters Club books are children’s novels that were published in the 1980s. The books follow the exploits of a group of young people who operate a babysitting service.

These novels have been around since 1986. The original author wrote the first titles. since then, ghost writers have written several dozen other novels in the series.
The Babysitters Club tells the story of friends Claudia, Mary Anne, Stacey and Kristy. When a personal problem arises at home involving her brother, Kristy decides to solve it by bringing her friends together to open a babysitting service.
These books are written from the point of view of the protagonist, with each book focusing on the adventures of a particular member of Kristy’s babysitting operation.
although childcare is at the center of these books, ann m. Martin takes the opportunity to address issues that affect girls, such as sibling rivalry, divorce, and peer conflict. Due to the target audience, these books are quite short and to the point.
Each story is designed to convey a particular message. it is worth noting that, while ann m. Martin is credited with writing the original Babysitting Club series, she did not create the idea.
That credit goes to the editor of scholastic (at the time) who found a book on child care that was attracting considerable interest from a wide variety of readers at the time.
The editor contacted Martin and encouraged her to write a story about childcare. while jean (the editor) originated the idea for the babysitters club, he left it to martin to generate the details of the story, such as the cast composition.
Nobody expected the books to become a phenomenon. there should only have been four titles in the series. and the author delivered them on time. however, after their publication, scholastic realized just how massively popular they had become.
martin was not surprised when he was asked to add two more books to the four he had already written. but he was probably surprised when those two books became twelve, and even then scholastic showed no signs of stopping. and Scholasticus had good reason to go ahead. There are few children’s books that have sparked as much interest among young readers as The Babysitters Club.

martin initially created for protagonists who would take center stage as members of the babysitting club. Over time, the likes of Mallory, Dawn, Jessica and Abigail entered the picture.
ana m. Martin based the original characters on people he knew, one of whom was his childhood best friend. Since the books were originally written in the ’80s and ’90s, they’re definitely a bit dated.
However, Scholastic took the time to update the books in 2009, adding technological aspects that didn’t exist in the years the books were first written. However, Martin took the time to assure fans that the changes would not be too drastic. for example, the author refused to give her 13-year-old characters cell phones and instead focused on eliminating the use of devices such as VCRs. Martin’s goal is for the books to remain frozen in time.
even after all the books that have been written and all the adventures that children have undertaken, ann m. Martin’s characters are always 13 years old. they will never leave high school.
Although Martin only wrote 35 of the original Babysitting Club books, he was involved in the production of several spin-offs of the series.
The books have been praised for instilling positive ideas in readers about the way the world works. they have also been criticized for maintaining certain stereotypes about the way boys and girls interact.

ana m. Martin had the opportunity to see Ella’s Babysitters Club series receive two adaptations. the most popular is the 13-episode television series that was produced in 1990.
A live-action film adaptation was finally produced in 1995. The family comedy-drama that followed the personal trials of the girls as they provided babysitting services for their town of Stoneybrook was positively received.

Ann Mathews Martin is an American author born in 1955, the daughter of a newspaper cartoonist and a preschool teacher. Martin spent her childhood in Princeton, New Jersey. she knew she wanted to write from a very young age.
Inspired by the likes of Lewis Carroll and Astrid Lindgren, Martin was initially content to tell stories out loud to her mother, who wrote them down for her. Later, as she progressed through elementary school, Martin took on the writing task on her own.

His desire to produce children’s fiction probably goes back to his love of children. The reason Ella Martin became a teacher is because she couldn’t get enough of the kids.
He pursued the career for a few years, including a period spent helping disabled children, before finally deciding to focus his efforts on publishing. the author began working for publishers before writing her own novels.
martin based many of the plots in these books on his personal childhood experiences.
The author believes that babysitting books are popular because they feel so real. the characters in his books feel like real people and as such young readers can relate to them. They are able to live vicariously through the wild and diverse girls in Martin’s stories.
+kristy’s great idea
When Kristy decides to open a babysitting service, she calls her friends for help. the girls are happy to come aboard. everyone loves kids and expects a lot of fun.
It helps that you make a lot of money babysitting.
The girls start to worry when crazy calls start to plague them while they work. It doesn’t help that two-year-olds are so hard to get along with, not to mention the animals that come with the babysitting package.
As hard as it may seem to take care of the kids, Kristy and her friends refuse to give up.
+claudia and the ghost phone calls
Of all the problems Kristy and her friends have faced since they opened their babysitting service, the mysterious phone calls are the worst. someone keeps calling the girls, but no one picks up when they answer.
It doesn’t help that Claudia thinks the jewel thief who’s been plaguing the area might be the source of the calls. The girls have a mystery on their hands that they’re not so sure they want to solve.
