Come check out what we love!
1.turtle, turtle, watch out!
We usually travel to daytona beach every year with my grandmother. while we’re there, we visit the marine science center and its turtle rehabilitation unit. there they have sea turtles that are sick or have been injured in the wild. the staff cares for the turtles until they are healthy enough to return to the sea.
To reinforce the learning of the turtles, we collected turtle, turtle, watch out! Kids can tell you all about turtle habitats, predators, and more. dltk-kids has a sweet turtle craft for preschoolers.
2. how to hide an octopus
Learning about camouflage in the wild is so much fun! This book takes a look at how an octopus can hide in its environment. my kids also try to find pipe fish, crabs and sea dragons.
I love this octopus craft because it makes learning fun. print it out, then encourage your children to fill in the dots with small stickers or dot markers. good for fine motor fun!
3. mr seahorse
this is one of my favorite eric carle books. my kids loved learning about the different ways marine animal parents care for their babies.
You can use this seahorse template along with watercolor paints to create your own seahorse craft.

don’t miss out on a hermit crab house for more beach-themed fun.
4. Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea
My husband is a scuba diver, so he loves reading this book to the kids. A little boy dives in search of treasure for his mother and meets many sea animals along the way.
You can print these sea animal characters, color them with markers, and laminate them to act out the story.
5. sea, sand, me
Get your sand buckets and shovels ready! This sweet tale by Patricia Hubbell recounts a girl’s day at the beach, complete with exploration, sand castles, and seaweed.
6. day by the sea
I love the little golden books. They remind me of when I was a child.
This story follows a family day at the beach – I could stare at the timeless illustrations all day! When you’re done reading, get the baby pool ready for more summer fun!
7. in the ocean
Do you need to improve your counting skills with your little ones? let’s do it, ocean style!
