Our Favorite Lift-The-Flap Books – The Perpetual Page-Turner

It’s a universally known truth (as a former childcare provider, aunt, and mom) that young children love books with flip-up flaps. (Also probably a universally known truth that they will, in fact, probably rip some flaps off at some point, but we won’t dwell on that.)

Really, some of the most attractive books we’ve had on our shelves over the years, and the ones I feel like I always end up giving away to other people, are the flip-up books.

Babies and toddlers love flip-up books and riley, once she started sitting and looking at her books, she spent as much time independently with flip-up books from everything else we had.

Honestly, as a parent, I loved them too – an easy way to make our reading experience even more interactive and easily grab their attention as they had anticipated what would be under the flap. especially when he started talking they became more fun and as a parent I started to notice how good they were at developing his vocabulary and understanding concepts like “under” or “behind”.

I’ve specifically broken it down into babies & toddlers because I know it’s sometimes hard to find books specifically for younger readers and I have a few that I think are perfect especially for babies, although most will still be great by the time they’re 1 or older.

These are the ones you would have in your library in the early days. Most of these are sturdier lift-flap books that are simple yet appealing to even the youngest readers.
