I’ve always been a sporty girl. I played basketball and volleyball and always watched soccer on Sundays with my dad growing up.
Combining my love of romance books with sports is just icing on the cake, especially when reading what I consider to be one of the best sports romance books around.
As an athlete who played through high school and college, I understand the dedication, hard work, and sacrifices it takes to play at a high level.
But the professional level: I can’t even imagine the pressure and incredible pride that goes with this kind of success in sports.
I love reading about athletes in various sports in my romance books.
not only get a glimpse into their athletic world – the interaction with teammates, game day approach, training – but also how they juggle love.
When it comes to sports romance books, I don’t discriminate.
I’m a sports loving girl, so I read hockey romance books, soccer romance books, football romance books, baseball romance books, basketball romance books, wrestling romance books, books rugby romances, water polo romances, race car driving romances – you name it!

meghan quinn is one of my favorite authors because she brings hilarious humor to her stories along with characters i absolutely adore.
We first meet these baseball players in college and follow them into the major leagues.
If you love great athletes and fabulous women, all mixed with laugh-out-loud moments and moments that will tug at your heartstrings, these baseball sports romance books are for you.
one of my favorite book boyfriends of all time is jason from the lineup because he is perfect in every way. You’ll just have to read this must-read book (or my review) to understand why!

kennedy ryan series of earrings
I have to say that surprisingly I’ve only read one basketball book, but it won’t be the last because hook shot was not only very well written, but also very moving in the subject matter it explored.
I know that’s the case with the other kennedy ryan baller books in this sports romance book series as well.
also, he won a rita award in 2019 for long shot, so you know he’s going to be good.

my favorite boxing sports romance book is real by katy evans.
Not only does it feature a fantastic boxer, but it also focuses on a mental health issue, as the boxer has bipolar disorder.
I don’t know or remember reading if katy evans has personal experience with this disorder or if she just did her research, but I thought it was such a weird look at this mental health disorder and found the book. so fascinating.

chicago star series by susan elizabeth phillips
One of the first romance book series I ever devoured was the Chicago Stars series by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.
These sports romance books not only feature sexy soccer players from the Chicago All-Star team, they are also very well written.
phillips also brings the best humor to his books, which made these recommendations unforgettable and worth reading.
Honestly, it’s hard to pick a favorite from this series, but this heart of mine just might take the cake.
serial game by kristen callihan
Kristen Callihan follows four American football players in this sports romance book series that begins in college and continues through the NFL.
I loved all of these books, but the game plan may be my favorite.
i have a soft spot for the quiet, strong guy like nfl center ethan dexter. Rumor has it that she is a virgin, but one dare can change that fact.
His story is a must read, though you’ll love all these soccer romance books in the serial game.

I can’t believe how many romance hockey books I’ve read! let’s say a lot.
who knew this was such a popular sport to write about, but my favorite authors like sarina bowen, elle kennedy, sawyer bennett, and odette stone have written amazing hockey romance books that I’ve devoured over and over again.
helena hunting’s pucked series is my all-time favorite sports romance series and it’s the series that first made me fall in love with this author’s work.
I loved following the teammates throughout the series, but it’s also the heroines of these novels and the laugh-out-loud moments that really make these books shine.

the rugby series of l.h. cosway and penny reid
I love the writing duo of l.h. cosway and penny reid and boy do they write some creative stories about the rugby boys who play in ireland.
the gambler and the pixie is so good it made my list of best romance novels because I love the story.
The so-called rugby playboy, who is actually terrible in the bag, gets “lessons” to improve his skills from a teammate’s sister with whom he doesn’t get along very well.
It’s fantastic and one of the best books of relationship coach tropes.
every book in this series is worth reading.

I love the harris brothers, they all play soccer!

tanner may be my favorite, but each of the harris brothers has an amazing story to share with witty amy daws jokes that I can’t get enough of.
plus, you get additional stories of soccer players with other members of their soccer teams in revenge and surprise, as well as the team’s lawyer on replay, which are just as fantastic.
best romantic water polo sports books
malibu university series by p. dangelic
Who would have thought you could find romance books about water polo players?
We’re only two books into this romantic watersports series as of this writing and it’s so good!
p. Dangelico writes these gems with his usual brilliance about the guys on the University of Malibu water polo team. these guys juggle water polo practice, school, and sometimes heavy personal baggage to overcome.
I’m sure you’ll want to jump into this series of sports romance books.

how to date an idiot series sara ney
let me tell you, sara ney paints a great picture when it comes to hot college wrestlers in their uniforms.
hell: the guys on the iowa wrestling team are a little cocky, a little horny, and what some might call jerks, but they actually turn out pretty good in these amazing new sports romance books for adults.

jaci burton play by play series
I think Jaci Burton is one of my most widely read authors and she gets that distinction in part because of her play-by-play sports romance series that I devoured when I first fell in love with romance books.
The series begins by following a family of three brothers: a soccer player, a baseball player, and a sister who falls in love with a hockey player.
from there the series continues with football and baseball romances with a little hockey, race car driving and surfing mixed in.
burton does not disappoint with these sports romance books and also the bedroom scenes are super hot.

k’s play hard series. bromberg
Of course, there is more to the world of sports than just athletes: there are also sports agents!
If you’re looking for fantastic sports romance books that focus on sports agents, look no further than K’s Play Hard series. bromberg.
These books follow the four Kincaid sisters, all sports agents who work for the family agency.
Not only do these books have amazing women at the helm, they also have wonderful stories featuring male athletes in a variety of sports, including hockey, soccer, and baseball.
