beverly jenkins is one of the best-selling authors of African-American descent in the United States. uu. nowadays, who she likes to write her novels based on the contemporary and historical romantic genre. in most of her novel she has attached particular importance to nineteenth-century African-American life. Till now, she has written about 5 series of historical romance books in her writing career, of which many novels have become bestsellers all over the world. author jenkins and her family live in southeastern michigan. The author Jenkins was born in 1951 in Detroit and completed her high school studies at Cass Technical High School. She later enrolled at Michigan State University and graduated with a major in English Literature and Journalism. To date, author Jenkins has written and published a total of 16 books in her writing career, and she has also received several prestigious awards for her dedicated efforts. In addition to spending her time writing her novels, author Beverly Jenkins spends active time at her community works and church meetings. in november 2001 she received the ywca woman of achievement award. In 2004, author Jenkins released the first contemporary romantic-thriller book of her writing career, titled “On the Brink of Midnight.” this was followed by several other romantic thrillers over the course of the following years. Being an active speaker on 19th century African-American history, author Jenkins was sponsored by the Savannah Black Heritage Festival to speak at the W.W. Law Lecture Series. Author Jenkins believes that African-American history is too often overlooked, which is why she has dedicated herself to writing about it so that people can understand the value and rich heritage of African-American history during the 20th century. xix. however, she faced some difficulties trying to get those novels published at first because publishers didn’t think people would like stories that involved the rich African-American history of the 19th century and not the slavery of that time.

the blessings series written by author beverly jenkins consists of 6 books in total, published between 2009 and 2015. the debut novel of this series was published under the title “bring on the greetings” and was published by the publications of william morrow. The main characters in the plot of this book include Bernadine Brown, Trent July, Leo Brown, and Lily Fontaine. At the beginning of the story, author Jenkins has depicted the occasion of Bernadine Brown’s 52nd birthday. She receives a rather unexpected gift from her husband named Leo, whom she catches in bed with her secretary. Bernadine was very hurt and angry, but she didn’t sit down and cry. Instead, she hired one of the best lawyers in town and sued her husband for cheating on her. as a result, she received $275 million in compensation and an easy divorce. Knowing that much is expected of her when much is given, she begins to pray to God to give her a purpose in life.

But apparently Bernadine Brown’s offer was not appreciated by everyone in Henry Adams’s town. there were some people who did not want changes to occur in the current situation. However, Bernadine, Trent, and his first love named Lily Fontaine seemed quite determined to preserve the city’s legacy and usher in a new era of a brighter future.
The next book in the series was also published by the same publisher and was entitled “a second helping”. This book contains a story full of heartwarming love, family, and community, and seems to provide readers with a read that is expected to last for a long time. Similar to the previous book in the blessing series, this book also shows examples of laughter, love, and chaos. Author Jenkins has filled the wonderful and moving story with lovable and eccentric characters. she has even used her trademark framing of this story’s rich historical background. the book seems to be a delight that provides a satisfying fare to the readers. The Detroit Free Press has described the author as a superstar and the novel as an amazing description, which will definitely please fans of Kimberla Lawson Roby.
