Looking for a book kids can explore together? Check out your choice in space by Nick Sharrat. My kids loved this series. the “reader” makes all the decisions and a natural oral history develops from there. It’s like choosing your own adventure book and a picture book.

Letters from Space by Clayton Anderson is narrated through a series of letters from an astronaut to those on earth. the letters range from a question about the amount of time to wear a pair of underwear in space addressed to mission control to a letter to a teacher about growing plants in space. you can pick and choose the letters to read to make it a shorter read for young preschoolers.

The universe is vast, and Jason Chin helps us put that vastness into perspective by starting at the size of your average 8-year-old and building your place in the universe from there. a lot of information about the space is shared as the book grows and grows. again, you can choose to read just the main text for shorter preschool reading.
