How to burn audiobooks to a CD using OverDrive for Windows (desktop)

As of February 23, 2022, overdrive for windows (desktop) is no longer available to install. Alternatively, you can borrow and listen to audiobooks using libby (for libraries), sora (for schools), or your library’s overdrive website.

if you already have overdrive for windows (desktop), you can follow below steps to burn audiobooks to cd.

Note: Due to agreements with publishers and digital media providers, Overdrive audiobooks cannot be burned to DVD or Blu-ray.

  1. Open OverDrive for Windows (desktop).
  2. Select an audiobook, then click the Burn button.The Burn button in OverDrive for Windows. See instructions above.
  3. Insert a blank CD into the CD drive on your computer. Click Next.
  4. When the burn wizard finds your drive, the “Confirm” screen is displayed.Select the part(s) to burn. You will need one CD for each part. Click Next.Part selection in the burn wizard. See instructions above.The selected parts will burn to the CD.
  5. When the burn is complete, click Finish to close the burn wizard.

Our application burns borrowed audiobooks as “audio cd”. If you manually burn parts of an audiobook to a cd in a data format (outside the overdrive app), you will only be able to listen to the audiobook on a computer or cd player that supports mp3 discs.

If you’re having trouble listening to a cd you’ve burned, check to make sure your cd player plays cd-r discs. If you used a cd-rw disc, try burning the title again using a cd-r. some cd players have trouble reading cd-rws.
