One would think that technology would make it easier to sell books around the world compared to traditional publishing. But that is not the case. Most of the time, authors from one country find it difficult to sell books in another territory due to territorial rights, copyright protections, and other limitations.
As a result, certain books are available in a particular country’s kindle store, while they may not be available for purchase in another store territory (as annoying as that is).
Therefore, changing your kindle account country can give you access to books that are otherwise unavailable.

Changing the country of the kindle store requires you to sign in to your amazon account from your original country.
For the sake of this example, I’ll show you how I changed the country of my kindle account from india to usa. uu. The same steps apply when changing the store to any other country/region combination.
This is what you need to do:
Step 1: Open the “content and devices” settings
first, sign in to your amazon account. then hover over your name next to the search bar at the top of the page (as shown in the image above).
A dropdown menu will appear with various options. click the “content & devices” link.

step 2: open the “preferences” tab
On the next screen, amazon will show you your library of kindle books by default. go to the “preferences” tab at the top.
Next, click the “country/region settings” option and it will display the country region your kindle account is currently associated with.
just click the “change” button.
step 3: enter the address of your destination country
Now, enter the residence address of the country you want to change the kindle account to. be sure to enter the zip code.
Also, be sure to choose the destination store’s country name from the dropdown menu.
Once you’ve added all the information, simply click “update“.
Step 4: Verify that the store’s country has been changed
The last step is simply to check if the change has occurred. To do so, simply go back to the “preferences” section and click on “country/region settings“.
Your kindle account should now reflect the revised store location.

You can only change your kindle store location using a web browser on a computer. amazon does not allow you to change the country from the kindle store on kindle, or using the kindle app on android or iphone.
then in case you don’t have access to a computer, your best option would be to use the chrome browser on your phone and open the browser tab on the desktop version.
can you buy kindle books outside of us when you travel?
When I was traveling to another country recently, a question that bothered me as a book lover was: will my kindle work in another country? Will I be able to buy books when I am in another country or do I need to stock up on my reading material?
you can buy kindle books on amazon even when you are in a different country than the one saved in the “country/region settings” of your kindle account. For best results, use a web browser on a computer to purchase the books, and then sync the library to your Kindle account.
one thing to keep in mind is that you may run into problems when trying to purchase a book using the store on your kindle device, especially if your kindle is internet enabled.
You may receive an error that “your account location does not match your store location”. If you find yourself in such a situation, it’s best to simply change your account’s store country by following the steps above and try purchasing the book again using a computer instead of Kindle.
do you need a real address to change the kindle store country?
One of the biggest factors that can prevent you from changing your kindle store country is the lack of an address on the destination store. but do you need a valid address to change the country of your amazon store?
You do not need a valid address to change the country on your Amazon account to purchase eBooks, as long as you do not intend to purchase products that require physical delivery. you can enter the street name and zip code of any city within a country to change the country of your kindle store.
However, make sure you choose the correct address in case you want to buy a physical book from an Amazon store in another country. you can ask your friend to accept delivery if you don’t have a physical address in a particular country.
If you are moving temporarily or permanently from one country to another, you may want to add your real address as well.
how to see kindle books available in another country? [without changing the store location!]
If you simply want to see e-books available on amazon or the kindle store in another country, you don’t necessarily need to change your address or edit your country of residence!
To see Kindle books available in another country, go to that country’s amazon website. Then click the location icon labeled “Deliver To” next to the Amazon logo in the upper left corner of your screen. enter the zip code of any city in the country, and click “apply”.
Doing so will unlock books that are specifically sold in the other country. however, to purchase these books, you will need to change your country of residence as mentioned earlier in the article.

Step 1: Click the location icon
first, open the amazon website of the desired country. For example, if you want to see the Kindle books available in the Amazon US Store, you should visit amazon.com. Similarly, if you want to see books in the amazon uk store, you need to open the amazon.co.uk site.
It is important to note that not all countries have their own independent Amazon store. Here is a list of all the Amazon stores where you can view and buy Kindle books in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
once you have opened the desired country store, click the location icon next to the amazon logo at the top left of the screen (as shown in the image above).
Step 2: Enter Zip Code
Next, simply enter the postal code of any city in the chosen country. then click “apply“. finally, click “done“.
If you don’t know the zip code of a country’s cities, just google it. enter the name of any city of a country and add the prefix “zip code”!
now just open the kindle ebooks section and start searching to see all available books.
what happens to your books if you change the country on your kindle account?
something you might be wondering is if e-books have rights to be sold only in a particular country, then what about the books you’ve already bought?
According to Amazon, Kindle books along with Audible audiobooks you already own will also transfer with your account when you change the country of residence on your account. however, kindle unlimited, prime reading, kindle kids books, and family library will not transfer.
so even though books will transfer when you change your store location, it’s best to check what can and cannot be transferred, especially if your amazon account is associated with multiple services within the amazon ecosystem.

can you go back to the original country store?
amazon allows you to switch between stores in multiple countries by changing the address in the country and region settings. simply follow the steps to change your country of residence location as mentioned earlier in the article.
then, at any time, if you think using another country’s store was a bad idea, you can easily switch back.
However, as mentioned in the previous section, make sure your Amazon account is not associated with or using any other services within the Amazon ecosystem, as some of the services may be terminated.
Also, if you create a separate Amazon store account from a different country, you will not be able to transfer books from one account to another (regardless of which country either account was created in!)
cannot change store country on kindle account
if you can’t change the country of the kindle account, please make sure you are not trying to change the location from japan or china as the original country. Amazon does not currently allow users to transfer an amazon.co.jp or amazon.cn account to another country or region.
if you don’t have japan or china as the original country on your account, and yet you’re having trouble transferring your account, it’s best to contact amazon’s customer support team for details. aid. .
They will usually be able to help you out quite easily as long as it is possible to change your country of residence to another country’s store.
