step 1: log in to your amazon account
This step is quite simple and you only need to focus on one thing: log in to the same amazon account on your pc/laptop that you purchased your e-book with.

step 2: go to the “my orders” page
Regardless of how the Amazon user experience changes, your orders will always have their own page.

While the availability of this tab may be different in different iterations of Amazon, it will have a separate space for digital orders in the order section.

Next to the book you wish to return, there will be a “return for refund” button. This button is clickable on all Kindle eBook items you have purchased in the previous seven days.

When the pop-up window opens, you will need to select the reason for the refund.
Depending on how amazon modifies this part of the process, different reasons will be listed in a selected format.
Alternatively, a free text box may be available for other reasons. Regardless of input method and options, only “accidental purchases” or options involving accidental purchases are valid.

However, these refunds are processed and approved on a case-by-case basis, and there are no buttons to facilitate or encourage returns after one week.
If you don’t see a return or refund button when you try to return a kindle ebook, you should click the option to have a live chat with amazon customer service. Requesting a refund this way can be successful if you make a good case for why you should be allowed to return an e-book after 7 days.
Because e-books don’t cost much, most people don’t use this option. consequently, there is a low refund volume through this channel, which only increases the chances of you getting a refund if you ask nicely.

Reading the above, you can infer that committing to an ebook drastically reduces the chances of it being accepted when you try to return it.
However, that’s not to say that opening an e-book immediately disqualifies you from being eligible for returns. if that were the case, the return button would be absent from the books you have opened.
You can return a kindle ebook if you’ve only read enough to realize it was a mistaken purchase. If Amazon detects that you have read a significant portion of the eBook (well beyond the preview), the eBook will not be accepted for return. you can return borrowed books in core reading after you’ve read them.

- Go to amazon.com in a web browser and sign in to your account.
- open the dropdown in the top right that says “hello, your name”.
- click “content and devices” in the dropdown.
- find the book you want to return in the “its contents” section. ignore “your devices”. section.

- click “return this book” in the pop-up menu.
