Part of our annual Christmas traditions is to spend Christmas Eve singing Christmas carols together as an extended family. Years and years ago, my mom made each member of our family a printable Christmas songbook.
It was perfect to have a book for each member of the family so we could sign and participate. Over the years, little by little we have lost our books and we have also become aware of the songs that our family always overlooks.

I decided it was time to create my own free pdf printable Christmas songbook! That way, I’ll always have an easy-to-print copy of the book when we inevitably lose our copies or when our family grows in size.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any free Christmas sheet music to use, but I really prefer just the lyrics to popular Christmas songs.

This songbook includes 36 Christmas songs divided into three categories so you can easily find the songs you want for your group: children’s favorites, songs of the season, and Christ-centered Christmas carols.
The 12 favorite children’s songs go together with a smaller Children’s Christmas Songs songbook I created last year with the same page numbers. The children’s Christmas songbook has coloring pictures on most pages and keeps children interested and involved.

how to print & put together the Christmas songbook
The free printable songbook is set up to easily print front to back. if you can print both pages front to back with your printer, just open the document and you’re ready to print! place a sheet of colored card stock on top of the paper tray to print your cover on that sturdier paper.

If you cannot print from front to back, print all the odd-numbered pages, then reload the printer tray with the printed pages, paying attention to the side and direction the printer prints from.
prints the even pages, allowing them to be printed on the back of the odd pages.
After your pages have printed, leave them in the order they are printed and quickly flip through to make sure your pages are still in the correct order.
then stack all the pages, fold the center down, and use a long-neck stapler to get to the center.

condensed christmas songbook
new! updated December 2021, we now have an improved version with few pages, condensed to 16 pages (8 double-sided pages). it still includes the same songs, but with an improved format.
This option will be best if your printing capacity is limited or you simply need to save paper or ink, such as when making a ton of copies.
This version uses a general 14-point font throughout the file, with some variations as needed. look at the font size and spacing differences between the two images to decide which one is right for you.

We have also created a new large format version with 22 pages (11 double-sided pages). the larger font option is perfect for children, seniors, and the visually impaired. but it’s also very nice to use when singing Christmas carols in dim light!
both copies still match the original printable songbook perfectly, so you can keep the older copies and use the newer, better format when you expand your collection.
the large print version uses font size 18 or larger for most songs. some have a size 16 font when they just wouldn’t fit in a larger size. you can compare the font sizes with this image and the one above when trying to decide which to print.

We also have another free printable, our children’s songbook, which includes only the first 12 songs from the adult songbook. For children with short attention spans, you can start with the fun children’s songs and then continue with the rest of the songbook.
