darcy is a flawed character, and you’ll want to help her when she hits the rock while trying to figure out who to trust. dealing with teenagers is also difficult for her considering what she is going through. having lost her husband, she is left alone to raise her two children. her son, hunter, wants to help her mom, but he is also traumatized by the loss of his father and his mother’s problems. They love each other as mother and son, but sometimes they don’t communicate well. the author adds some twists and turns to keep the reader guessing what will happen next.

Thomas is an intriguing, determined, protective, and hard-working character. he solved problems very well and never gave up. his interaction with the explorer as they worked together is admirable. he also dealt with naomi, lava, raven and chelsea amazingly.

The book picks up where the first novel left off, with Agent Darcy Gellar surviving the killer and rescuing her daughter. The killer seems to stop at nothing until Darcy and his family members are dead.

Darcy has no choice but to find the real killer and clear her name.
