darynda jones is an american writer who has written famous suspense series, the charley davidson trilogy and the dark light. The Charley Davidson series is a series of seven novels based on paranormal romantic thrillers, while the Darklight Trilogy is a series of three young adult novels. Ella Darynda lives with her husband in New Mexico, to whom she has been married for the past 30 years and has two children. when she was five years old, she used to doodle on a notepad and considered it a masterpiece. her mother would support her by building her confidence and inspiring her to write something sensible. Little by little, she began to write plays for the children in her neighborhood and helped her brother develop some stories to play with cars. she developed a character called captain kirk for her brother, who she liked very much. She developed her imagination to write fantastic stories for Barbie and Ken. ella darynda jones used to daydream in her class at school and was repeatedly told to report to the principal. she always dreamed about the characters and the plot of her novel, in her class. she managed to finish her first manuscript in high school. It was a science fiction story about a group of teenagers tunneling, after decades of destroying the earth by World War III. she then she graduated and got married.

darynda moved to albuquerque to admit her oldest son to a program for the deaf and hard of hearing, since he was born deaf. Until then he used to write occasional stories and had not taken writing very seriously. he entered college and graduated with a degree in sign language interpretation. she began teaching at a local university. at that time she again began to develop the desire to write. she took writing seriously in 2002 and tried to get a publishing deal, but all to no avail. Then too, she carried on her longing and completed three manuscripts for the Charley Davidson series. The series earned her a heart of gold and Rita and made her a best-selling author, according to the New York Times and USA Today. 1. charley davidson: charley is the main character of the novel. she is a personal investigator and used to help her father and her uncle bob to solve cases since her childhood. she’s witty and sarcastic and full of reaper skills. she has some unique abilities like healing power faster than any human being, running faster than everyone else, talking to the dead and some other cunning abilities.

2. leland davidson: leland is charley’s father and a former cop who now owns a bar. he loves charley very much and has allowed her to use the second floor of her bar restaurant as her office. He is well aware of Charley’s abilities and knows that she can get by in any situation because of her abilities and skills.

3. reyes farrow: reyes is a boy that charley met when they were younger. she saved him from being beaten by his father. he used to call her ‘Dutch’ at that time and often visits her in her dreams. he is the son of satan and is sent to find the grim reaper. but when he saw charley he was born on earth. he is a portal to hell as charley is a portal to heaven.

4. gemma: gemma is charley’s older sister. she is estranged from her and rarely speaks to her. She knows that Charley can talk to the dead, but she doesn’t know that she is a Grim Reaper. she gets along with her stepmother.

5. angel: angel is a thirteen year old ghost that charley met at the same time as reyes. Angel was killed on the road while trying to stop him and now works for Charley solving cases and tracking down suspects. charley sends his mom money that she would have earned. he always tries to see charlie without clothes.

6. rocket: rocket is also a ghost who appears as a big boy even though he is old and lives in a madhouse. he has the unique ability to know the names of everyone who has died. he enjoys scaring charley and it excites him.

the charley davidson series is a series of seven novels published by st. Martin’s Press from 2011 to 2014. The first novel in the series was published in 2011 and was a sensational, award-winning debut novel by Darynda Jones. The ‘first grave on the right’ features Charley Davidson as a private investigator. he can see and touch the dead. she has the job of convincing them to “go to the light”. Some of them would ask Charley to bring her killers to justice. she is often seen dreaming of something that she believes she is an entirely different entity. The novel won the RWA Heart of Gold Award for Best Paranormal Romance in 2009, an award for unpublished authors. Darynda Jones later also won the Rwa Rita for her novel for Best First Book in 2012. Other awards include the Holt Medallions for Best Paranormal Book and Best First Book in 2011, the Bookie Award in 2012, and the Gotcha! first place award in 2009. the novel was also published in major foreign languages.
