The Doctor Who series is a series of science fiction novels based on the popular British television show of the same name. the tv series was produced by the bbc channel, since 1963. after each series was broadcast on television, several authors began to develop them in the form of novels. each of them began to describe the television series in their specific way, but kept the original theme of the series unchanged. All of the books in the Doctor Who series feature the adventures of the time- and space-traveling humanoid alien known as the Doctor. various authors describe him as a time lord, continuing to explore the entire universe with the help of his time-traveling sentient spaceship known as the tardis. after the publication of some novels in the series, the future novels were pummeled in the form of a new series called “new adventure series”. the novels are often referred to by the short form of the series, the ‘nsas’. They continue to tie in with the BBC’s long-running television series of the sci-fi genre. Most of the books are published by BBC Books. Typically, two books are published in the series each year. subsequent novels in the series began publication in the section and are known as the Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Doctor novels, respectively. With the doctor’s tenth novels, a section of ‘fast reading’ books also began to be published, at least one each year. Except for speed reads, all other NSA books have been published in hardcover form. they were later reprinted in paperback form. the paperbacks were part of the boxed collection to be shipped exclusively to tesco and the book people. some of the reprinted versions of the books feature the images of the novel’s companions on the cover, while some of the hardcover editions have been reprinted to modify the images of roses on the covers.
