In 1974, an ex-army officer in fayetteville who loved books and reading realized he couldn’t afford to open a library, so he did second best: he opened a used bookstore! From modest beginnings that included boxes of Canada Dry ginger ale, buildings originally designed to function as chicken coops, and a building the founder put together himself, Edward McKay used Books & more has grown to four stores in north carolina.

Used books were our start and are still a big part of our stores, but we also buy, sell and trade a wide variety of other products, including cds, dvds, vinyl records, electronic devices like ipods and readers. electronics, textbooks, audiobooks, video games, gifts and more. we are open seven days a week to buy, sell and trade.

Our raleigh store has always been in the capital boulevard area but has moved a couple of times. It has now moved to its current location at 3514 Capital Boulevard, across from Chuck E. cheese. it’s a huge store with over 10,000 square feet!
