author mo willems writes the “elephant & piggie” series of children’s books. these books are intended for early readers and the books are done in a comic book style. the series began to be published in the year 2007, when “today I will fly!” was released. mo willems ended the series with “the thank you book”, the twenty-fifth book in the series, which was published in 2016.

Books are released almost quarterly, and sometimes two books are released on the same day. this includes how the first two books in the series were published.
The series stars Gerald, an elephant and Piggie. Gerald’s words appear in gray letter bubbles, while Piggie’s words appear in pink letter bubbles. these stories often deal with friendship issues and show things like sharing, kindness, and working together to solve different problems. The books show that despite Piggie and Gerald’s differences, they still get along.
elephant gerald is also the name of mo’s favorite singer, but you have to say it fast. on the other hand, piggie is called piggie because when she was born she looked like a little pig, besides, cher, madonna and beyonce had already taken her away.
according to mo, he drew simple pictures and emphasized the most important things: the body language of the elephant and the pig and the words of the story.

“there is a bird on your head!” and “are you ready to play outside?” It won the Geisel Medal in 2008 and 2009. “There’s a Bird on Your Head” is the fourth novel in the “Elephant and Little Pig” series, which was published in 2007. Gerald discovers that there is something worse than having a bird on your head. two birds on your head. Will Piggie be able to help her best friend?

For some readers, this is the best and funniest book in the series. Once the bird lands on Gerald’s head, things go haywire. it’s an enjoyable and sublimely ridiculous read.
