Books are great for learning languages. but I’d say audiobooks could actually be more beneficial.
sitting down to read a book in a language you don’t yet fully understand can be challenging and difficult to do consistently.
With everything else going on in your life, sometimes it can be hard to keep up with your language learning.
however, there’s always time for an audiobook. Whether you’re cleaning the house, going to work, or brushing your teeth, your day has tons of little moments where your brain isn’t doing anything, but your body is. these are the perfect times to start listening to an audiobook and learning a new language.

I rarely have the patience to sit down with a book and read something, and things get even more difficult when I don’t recognize all the words and have to put the book down to translate things.
however, an audiobook runs whether you want it to or not. this can be a good thing or a bad thing, but overall I get less distracted because the narrator just continues with the story and I catch up with the story in a more natural way without getting frustrated all the time.

It may not sound like much, but using those moments to listen to something in your target language could be what finally makes you speak fluently.

When you’re learning a foreign language, you often get to that awkward stage where you know the language, but not really. You know, when you’ve gotten past the simple audio scenarios that come with most language learning methods, but you’re not yet fluent enough to be able to read a whole book.
It’s a frustrating linguistic unknown zone that can be difficult to escape from.
Instead of trying to listen to completely new content, the best way to start reading in a foreign language is by reading things you’ve already read in your native language.
Pick up a book you’ve read before, whether it’s Harry Potter, The Da Vinci Code, or a self-help book you’ve really enjoyed.

Okay, you’re no longer in the beginning stages and have decent fluency, but you’re not fluent enough to tackle an entire book without having to look up words.
This is, in my opinion, the most frustrating phase.
One of my favorite tricks is to listen to or read books that I’ve already read before. this way I already know the general story, which makes it easier to guess words from context.
Even if you can’t understand every little word, it won’t affect your understanding of the overall story and you can still keep listening without being afraid of missing an important clue.
It is the easiest way to become familiar with a language in a pleasant, effective way and without pausing every three seconds to look up words.

One of the advantages of being able to choose any book is being able to read books in your native language.
