grace lin started writing at a young age of 25 and her first book was ugly vegetables. However, Minli is fascinated by her father’s story and accidentally meets several strange and magical characters along the way. she also meets a dragon who also wishes to accompany her on her search for the old man of the moon. fantastically written, gripping, naturally flowing and very much enjoyed by children and considered by many to be second to none.

the year of the dog is another wonderfully written book and the book focuses on the main character, a girl named grace. she is about a girl who migrates to the united states from taiwan (by the way, grace lin is also a taiwanese immigrant). At home she is called Pacy while at school she is better known as Grace. grace is from a family that respects her tradition and culture and they celebrate chinese new year with poise and class. this celebration has to do with the year of the dog which, in fact, symbolizes friends. grace crosses paths with a girl named melody, who is also from the same origin. While there are quite a few similarities between them, they also have quite a few differences. Melody is good at speaking Taiwanese, while Grace is not. melody is careful about what she eats, while grace is more comfortable with junk food. grace and melody in her quest to learn new things in her life she participates in a series of school activities. Will grace be able to fulfill her dream of being a talented person? the book provides the answer as she progresses through the various twists and turns associated with her school life. the illustrator for the above two characters is grace lin and she has really done an amazing job.
Although Grace Lin has written several books, illustrations, and series, none of her books have been made into movies. however, there is a growing demand among many readers for some of her masterpieces to be made into movies and things are expected to become a reality in the not too distant future.
