Graham Greene was a critically acclaimed English author of the thriller and literary fiction genres. he was considered one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. The author Greene had garnered much popularity along with literary acclaim, helping him to acquire a reputation as a notable author very early in his career. he used to write both entertaining suspense novels and serious Catholic books with great ease. In the year 1967 he was shortlisted for the Nobel Prize for his dedicated work in the field of literature. During the course of his 67-year writing career, author Greene wrote a total of 25 books, all of which explored the world’s serious political and moral problems. all these elements were represented in his novels in the form of a Catholic perspective. Greene was strongly regarded as a Roman Catholic writing style novelist rather than just being a Catholic. but, most of his books were based on the religious themes of Catholic origin. the 4 major Catholic novels written by him are considered the gold standard of Catholic subject matter. Some of his other successful books show that the author Greene had an avid interest in the intrigues and workings of espionage and international politics. Greene was born on October 2, 1904, in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, England; and he passed away on april 3, 1991 in vevey, switzerland. his family was large and influential at the time, and they owned the ‘greene king brewery’. He studied at Berkhamsted School, where his father used to work as a teacher and principal.
the author greene had no interest in studying and used to be quite unhappy all the time. he had even attempted suicide on a few occasions. After his education, the author Greene joined Balliol College in Oxford to study history. he published his first work in 1925, when he was still a university student. After completing his graduation, he began working as a private tutor and later switched to journalism. He first joined the Nottingham Journal and then became deputy editor at that time. Greene decided to convert to Catholicism after meeting his future wife Vivian Dayrell Browning in the year 1926. The author Greene published his first book called ‘The Inner Man’ in the year 1929. The positive response to the book allowed him to start working as a novelist at full time. The income that he used to get from selling his book, he used to use a large part of it for freelance journalism as well as movie reviews. Author Greene was once sued by Fox producers for one of his film reviews based on a child star’s sexuality. Because of this, he had to live in exile in Mexico until the trial was over. While living there, he had the idea for a story that would later become one of his masterpieces, entitled ‘The Power and the Glory’. Author Greene had a long history of depression that had a major effect on his personal life and his writing. During the last years of his life, the author Greene lived in the same city as Charlie Chaplin and visited him very often. later, the two had become very good friends. He succumbed to leukemia in 1991 at the age of 86 and his body was cremated in the Corseux cemetery. Just before his death, the author Greene was awarded the Great Britain Order of Merit. Author Greene’s family consisted of his wife Vivien De Him and a pair of children named Lucy Caroline and Francis. it was believed that he was involved in some sexual encounters and adventures while he was still married. Because of this, he separated from his children and his wife, and considered his books as his children.

One of the first books author Graham Greene wrote in his writing career was titled “The Quiet American.” This book was published by Penguin Classics in the year 1955. The main plot of the book takes place in Vietnam and features the characters of Thomas Fowler, Phuong, Alden Pyle and Vigot in the main roles. The story told in this novel turns out to be a classic exploration of innocence, morality, and love. At the beginning of the book, Alden Pyle is described as a man who had better motives behind all the trouble caused by him. He is a brash young idealist who is sent to Saigon on a mysterious mission by Washington. he receives the order to help the French army, which was fighting against the Vietnamese guerrillas. But, all of Alden Pyle’s well-intentioned policies turn into bloodshed, after which Fowler is forced to come to his rescue. he is portrayed in the novel as a cynical and experienced British reporter, who could not safely stand on the sidelines as an observer. However, the police are suspicious of Fowler’s motives for intervening, as Pyle continues to steal his beautiful mistress from Vietnam. the novel had opened to great criticism and appreciation throughout the world. This helped author Greene receive high praise for his work. the book was adapted into a film twice. overall, the novel remains a current and terrifying portrait of innocence.
another book written by author green early in his career was titled “the end of the matter”. It was published by Vintage Classics in the year 1951. The setting of this book takes place in London, England, UK and includes the main characters in the form of Henry Miles, Maurice Bendrix and Sarah Miles. According to the author Greene, the plot of this novel seems more like a hate story than a love story. In the opening scene of the book, Maurice Bendrix is shown to have the same belief. he finds the hate strange and forces him to set up a flashback account of the adulterous affair he had with a married woman named sarah miles. When Sarah suddenly dies, Maurice Bendrix is very sad. after a year, he begins to exorcise the persistence of his passion by trying to retrace his path from obsessive love to love-hate. At first, Maurice thinks he hates both Sarah and her husband, Henry Miles. but, as he continues to delve into the emotional perspective of himself, his hatred turns to the god, who he believes has brought his life to ruin. however, maurice bendrix realizes the god’s existence in the end.
