who is penn cage / summary of the series

penn cage was a prosecutor in houston, texas. He is the current Mayor of Natchez, Mississippi and also a writer. After his wife, Sarah, died, he decided to return home to Natchez to deal with his grief and help his daughter, Annie, recover from the loss of her mother as well.

after returning home with his daughter, penn cage learns that her father is being blackmailed, so he gets involved in the case. all of this goes back to a racial case from 30 years ago in 1968 of a black citizen. Here he also meets Livy Marston, his former love whom he never thought he would meet again. The more Cage investigates, the more people try to keep some secrets hidden forever, even secrets the FBI was involved with in the past.

Greg Iles was born in 1960, in Stuttgart, Germany.
