james grippando is a new york times bestselling author from the united states, who writes fiction novels and short stories in the thriller and crime genres. he is also a lawyer by profession. Having written over 21 books, James is quite popular around the world, particularly for his “Jack Swyteck” series. he got the idea to write the series from a real life experience when he was arrested for mistaken identity. He is known for giving a real-life description of the character Jack Swyteck in the series about him. Born January 27, 1958, in Waukegan, Illinois, James graduated from law school and initially served as law clerk to the Honorable Thomas Clark, United States Court of Appeals. he worked on a number of cases as a death penalty attorney that later helped him write the plots for his novels. James then worked as a lawyer in Miami for a period of 12 years. he also served as lead counsel for florida chicken farmers in a case that changed the outlook for the poultry industry. James began writing a series of scholarly articles while still practicing law. He started trying creative writing in the 1980s, but was unsuccessful in publishing the first book. he got the idea to write a novel about a man arrested for a murder he didn’t commit, from his own life experience. His novel ‘Leaholes’ became the first book published by the American Bar Association for young readers. James also wrote several short stories along with thrillers. As of now, James lives in Miami, Florida, where most of his novels take place. jack swyteck was described in the 1994 novel ‘the pardon’ as a young lawyer who defends death row inmates. Born John “Jack” Lawrence Swyteck on December 7, he was raised by his potentially ambitious father and alcoholic stepmother in Miami, Florida. his biological mother had died after giving birth to him. Jack was of Cuban-American origin, although he had no ties to Cuban culture. as a result, he is often misunderstood when he attempts to speak Spanish, leading to comical situations. James faced women’s problems due to his childhood. In the second novel of the Jack Swyteck series, Jack meets two very important people in his life, his maternal grandmother and his best friend Theo Knight. Theo motivates him throughout the series to take major risks in life. in fact, theo was the only innocent person among his inmates whom jack had represented on death row. Jack’s father is an ex-cop named Harry Swyteck who has gone into politics. Jack studied at Forida University and graduated from Yale Law School. He joined the job immediately after graduation and began working for the Freedon Institute, defending clients on death row. after a few years of service, he left the job to work as a federal prosecutor. After four more years of service, Jack began practicing privately and became a freelancer. The novel features Jack Swyteck as a talented defense attorney based in Miami. he is against the decision of his father, harold swyteck, who is the governor of florida and a strong advocate of the death penalty for accused murderers. The father and son are framed by a psychopath who blackmails Harry with proof that a man is innocent, that he was executed for murder, and frames Jack in a murder case. They go their separate ways to find the truth and prove their innocence before discovering that they are fighting the same evil. they come together in a confrontation with the psychopath as both men try to save the other. It was published in the year 2002 and was published again in the year 2007 by Harpertorch. The plot of this novel shows smart and tough Miami criminal attorney Jack Swyteck trying to help his ex-girlfriend Jessie Merill. he sees it as a golden opportunity to help her sell her insurance policy for a cash payment, since she had the wrong idea of dying soon. Jessie received $1.5 million due to Jack Swyteck’s court prowess. But it turns out that Jack and the insurance company have been framed by a con man who is beyond suspicion. he is looking for jack for jessie’s murder when he finds her body in her bathtub. he is desperate to find the truth and prove his innocence, as his life and career are at stake.
