Throughout the Harry Potter series there is a wide range of character heights. However, not all heights are clearly stated, so we have researched and compiled a table of the height of every known Harry Potter character.
Harry Potter was approximately 5’11”, Ron Weasley 6’1″, Hermione 5’5″, Draco Malfoy 6″, and Dumbledore 6’3″.

Unsurprisingly, the tallest Harry Potter main character is Rubeus Hagrid at 8’6″ (259.1 cm). The shortest is Filius Flitwick at 2’3″ (68.6 cm).

harry potter
We see Harry Potter (and his friends) through many stages of life throughout the series and books.
They start as children, they have just turned 11 when they receive their letters from Hogwarts. At the end of the series, after Harry has successfully gone through puberty and her growth spurt, she is approximately 5’11”.
in the books, harry is described as tall and lanky, and there are some theories that he is closer to 5’8″. daniel radcliffe, who played harry potter in the movies, was only 5’5″ , which made Harry appear slightly shorter than his intended height in the books.

albus dumbledore
We all know and love the selfless headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. he is approximately 6’3″, and was described as “tall and skinny”.
the actor who plays dumbledore in the last part of the series, michael gambon, was 6’1″ at the time.
hermione granger
hermione granger is the best friend of both harry potter and ron weasley. she is smart, dedicated to her studies and becoming a better witch, and is a fiercely loyal friend.
as a result of the creation of the muggle-born registration commission, hermione was forced to register with the ministry. hermione’s ministry file lists her height as 5’5″ and her weight as 118 pounds. therefore, both hermione and emma watson, who plays her, are 5’5″.

ron weasley
ron weasley completes the golden trio of friends, including harry and hermione. he is one of seven siblings, and although he can be extremely frustrating and dense, he is also loyal and kind.
He is described as “quite tall and lanky”. most people speculate that Ron is around 6’1″, while some say he could be as tall as 6’5″. It’s kind of hard to imagine Ron being that tall when the actor who plays him, Rupert Grint, is only 5’8″.

neville long bottom
We grew to love the awkward, shy, and fearful boy who becomes a man: Neville Longbottom.

neville is described as “a round-faced boy, and j.k. rowling once said he was ‘short, chubby and blond'”.
neville is approximately 5’7″. this may seem strange, but it would be because the actor who plays neville, matthew lewis, is actually 6 feet tall.
luna lovegood
Whether you admit it or not, Luna Lovegood’s attitude is something we all strive for. not only is she very confident in who she is, but she never wavers in her beliefs, even when others make fun of her for it.
yes, she’s also eccentric and a little weird, but that makes her even more adorable. she is described as “having dirty, messy, waist-length blonde hair and a dazed look on her face.”
luna is approximately 5’2″, just like evanna lynch, the actress who plays her.
oar lupine
remus lupine was best friends with sirius black, james potter and peter pettigrew during their years at hogwarts. he also suffered from lycanthropy, meaning that he became a werewolf. In his wizard form, Remus was around 6’2″.
lily potter
lily potter is best known for her love and sacrifice to save baby harry from lord voldemort. she was an extremely talented and kind witch. Lily was about 5’6″, and the actress who played her, Geraldine Somerville, was also 5’6″.
james potter
james potter was the loving father of harry potter and the husband of lily potter. he was a troublemaker when he was a student at hogwarts, but then stopped being immature.
although james was described as “tall”, he was still under 6ft at about 5’11”. some say he was shorter, around 5’8″, but with the clues we are given about his height, it is estimated to be higher.
black syrian
sirius black was the best friend of james potter, lily potter, remus lupin, peter pettigrew and the godfather of harry potter. he was described as tall, handsome, and had long dark hair. Though after he was wrongfully accused and spent 12 years in Azkaban, his beauty faded and he looked far beyond his years of mistreatment and abuse.
some argue that sirius was around 5’11”, but it is theorized that he was closer to 6’2″. it may be that people confuse sirius’s height with the actor who plays him, gary oldman, who is 5’9″.
severus snape
Severus Snape was a brilliant teacher, wizard and notoriously known as “the Half-Blood Prince”. He attended Hogwarts at the same time as James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew, but was no friend of theirs. in fact, they often bullied him.
Severus is said to be around 5’9″ as he is noted to be relatively shorter than Sirius. The actor who played him, Alan Rickman, was 6’1″.
lord voldemort
lord voldemort (tom riddle) was the most powerful dark wizard who ever lived. It may seem like he is shorter because Ralph Fiennes, the actor who plays him, is 5’11”.
Voldemort is actually about 6’3″. He was described as tall and skinny. Interestingly, he might have been shorter when he was Tom Riddle, but his new body was clearly taller and lankier.
draco malfoy
Draco Malfoy is the only son of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy and essentially the sworn enemy of Harry Potter.
draco is about 6 feet tall, slightly taller than harry. Tom Felton, who plays Draco, is 5’9″. He was described as “slender, with straight graying blond hair, cool gray eyes, a pale complexion, and rather sharp, pointed features.”
bellatrix lestrange
bellatrix lestrange is lord voldemort’s most loyal servant. she is described as “a woman with dark, thick, shiny hair and very droopy eyes.” it may be due to her time in azkaban, but bellatrix was very selfish, sadistic and cruel.
Surprisingly, Bellatrix was around 6 feet tall, while the actress who plays her character, Helena Bonham Carter, was only 6 feet tall.
horace slughorn
horace slughorn is a wizard and professor at hogwarts, the same one who confirmed to tom riddle that it was possible to divide his soul into seven horcruxes.

His appearance is described as fat, bald, short, and old. stands approximately 5 feet tall. This might seem weird because he looks so much taller in the movies, but that’s because Jim Broadbent, who plays Professor Slughorn, is 6’2″.
filius flitwick
Filius Flitwick was part goblin and part wizard, so he was only about 2’3″ due to his goblin heritage.
He was a beloved teacher at Hogwarts and treated his students equally and fairly, although he did not receive the same treatment growing up. the actor who plays him, warwick davis, is 3’6″.
rubeus hagrid
rubeus hagrid was half giant and half wizard. he was about 8’6″, but would have been much taller had he been born a giant. we love hagrid from the moment we meet him and see how kind, caring and compassionate he is.

dolores umbridge
Dolores Umbridge was the High Inquisitor of Hogwarts. while she was apparently sweet on the outside, she was a cruel woman who frequently abused her power and authority. she was about 5’1″ and “is said to resemble a ‘large pale toad'”.
arthur weasley
arthur weasley is the husband of molly weasley and father of the seven weasley children. Although he is a pure-blood wizard, he does not share the belief of pure-blood supremacy: that Muggle-born witches and wizards do not deserve to have magical abilities.
It is said that he is “a thin man, who is balding, but the hair on his head is as red as that of any of his children. His greatest wish is to find out how Muggle planes stay on their feet.” he is about 6’2 and the actor who plays him, mark williams, is 6’1.
molly weasley
molly weasley is the loving, selfless and protective mother of the weasley children and wife of arthur weasley. she is about 5’3 and is described as “short, slightly plump, and kind-looking”.
The actress who plays Molly, Julia Walters, is about the same height as her character.
weasley ticket
Like the rest of the Weasley family, William “Bill” Weasley was on the taller side, standing at about 6’3″. He was the oldest of the Weasley siblings and eventually married Fleur Delacour.
charlie weasley
charles “charlie” weasley was shorter, unlike the other weasleys, but shared his remarkable red hair. he was about 5’7″ or 5’8″.
He was the second oldest brother, and after graduating from Hogwarts, he went to Romania to study dragons.
percy weasley
percy weasley was perhaps the most serious weasley brother. he worked in the ministry of magic and did not share his twin brother’s (fred and george) love for pranks and practical jokes. he was about 6’1″.
ginny weasley
Ginny Weasley is one of seven Weasley children and the only girl. JK Rowling describes her as “tough, not in a nasty way, but brave” and “warm and compassionate”. Although she had a few different love interests during her time at Hogwarts, Ginny eventually became interested in Harry and they later married.
ginny is a little above average height for a girl, about 5’6″. it helps that the actress who plays her, bonnie wright, is the same height.
fred and george weasley
twins fred and george weasley are lovable, mischievous and enjoy playing practical jokes on others. They left Hogwarts during the “reign” of Dolores Umbridge and opened a joke shop called “Weasley’s Magical Wheezes”.
fred and george are approximately 6’3″, which makes it even harder to tell them apart.
