The publisher, which was based in New York City, had a keen interest in crime fiction, and Nelson believed it would be John’s best hope of achieving his publishing dreams.

nelson was not wrong. The manuscript John sent them eventually became The Woman Who Married a Bear, her first novel. This was the same novel that Bill Clinton bought at a bookstore he visited during his tenure.

In a short time, John Straley was a successful published author with a number of critically acclaimed detective novels to his credit, most of which revolved around the character of Cecil Young.

so when an ex-miner kills an Indian guide because the voices below order him to, people take notice.

but although the case seems closed, the victim’s mother refuses to let it go. She asks Cecil Young to investigate the matter and unravel the primordial conspiracy at the center of her small community.
