The story revolves around Di Joe Plantagenet, who has had his fair share of misfortunes. first, he loses his wife a few months after his wedding. Then he loses his fellow police officer and partner, Kevin, in a shootout. the shooting also leaves him wounded.

In the novel there is a serial killer on the loose. the killer kills the victims using strange ways. he kidnaps the victims, puts them in a coffin and leaves them to suffocate to death. he then exhibits the corpses in a rustic cemetery. This proves challenging for Joe and his new boss Emily. they begin to suspect that it could be black magic rituals. The plot gets personal as Kevin’s daughter; carmel hennessy is shipped from leeds to north yorkshire. she naively decides to conduct her own investigations and soon realizes that she bit off more than she could chew. Kevin’s wife calls Joe and asks him to keep an eye on Carmel.

looks like emily, joe’s new boss, is also hiding something. As the plot unfolds, it becomes clear that there is more to her than meets the eye. she has so many skeletons hidden in her closet.
