khaled hosseini is a well known american novelist known for writing novels in literature & fiction genre. Khaled was born in Kabul, Afghanistan in 1965 and raised in America from childhood. As an author, he has been very successful after the release of his first three novels. He debuted the kite racer in 2003, which went on to make the New York Times bestseller list. it spent four weeks in the number one position of the total stay of 101 weeks. writing is his second profession, the one he developed as a hobby. he is primarily a doctor and works in california as a doctor. All of his novels are partially set in Afghanistan and feature an Afghan citizen as the main protagonist. With the tremendous success of his first novel, Khaled abandoned the medical profession and took up writing as a full-time career. when he was a child, he had to travel to various places since his father was a diplomat. His family originally moved with him to France, where he spent around four years. He then moved to the United States, along with his family, and became a US citizen after being granted asylum. After a long time, he traveled back to Afghanistan at the age of 38. the experience of his trip made him feel like he was a tourist. he experiences survivor’s guilt for leaving the country before the outbreak of the wars and the Soviet invasion.

Khaled was the eldest of the five brothers. his mother was a teacher at a girls’ school in kabul. he had a privileged upbringing, spending the first 8 years of his life in the neighborhood of wazir akbar khan. when he moved to america, he couldn’t speak english, which was a huge obstacle in his studies and turned out to be alienating. while in san jose, california, khaled graduated from high school in the year 1984. he opted for biology and earned his bachelor’s degree in the year 1988. then in the year 1993, khaled joined the university’s medical school from california and got a maryland. he worked as a professional doctor for over ten years until a few months after the release of his first novel. As a responsible human being, he heads the Khaled Hossseini Foundation which works to provide assistance to human beings in need and is also a UNHCR Goodwill Envoy. He is married to Roya and has two sons named Farah and Haris. the family stays in northern california. As a child, Khaled was greatly influenced by Persian poetry and still has a collection of his favorite poems in his books. he says that Persian translations of his childhood novels influenced him to become a writer. As for his love of music, he credits Ahmad Zahir, a singer from Afghanistan. Khaled says that memories of his childhood in Afghanistan, as well as his experiences with the Hazara people of Afghanistan, motivated him to write his first novel. The relationship between the main characters, Amir and Hassan in his first novel is heavily influenced by his personal relationship with a man named Hossein Khan, who taught him to read and write and served his family in Iran. he has also written the experiences of france in his other novels.

khaled hosseini began his writing career with the first novel called ‘the kite runner’, which was published in 2003 by the publishing group penguin berkeley. The novel is based on the lives of the main characters, Hassan, Baba, Sohrab, and Amir, and takes place in various locations such as Kabul, Peshawar, and California. it was based on the fact that the events of a few days or sometimes even a single day can turn everyone’s life upside down, even if it seems unfair. The plot of the novel opens with Amir as a wealthy son of a Kabul merchant, belonging to the upper caste of Pashums who rule the city. Hassan is shown as his servant and companion, who belongs to the impoverished community of Hazara people. His strong bond is broken when Amir decides to leave Hassan due to growing tensions related to the political, religious and ethnic aspects of the Afghan monarchy. this separates them. However, Amir realizes his mistake and thinks of reaching out to Hassan in order to correct the mistakes of the past. His bond proves to be very strong when Amir travels a long distance to meet his only true friend once again. The novel tells the heartbreaking and unforgettable story of an unusual friendship between a rich boy and his poor companion. the author hosseini has also done a tremendous job in describing the situation back then in afghanistan, which was about to be destroyed. The novel depicts love, sacrifice, and friendship against the backdrop of Afghanistan’s devastating history. The success of the novel made it appear on the New York Times bestseller list and it also garnered some literary awards and sold around 4 million copies worldwide. Featured awards include Borders Original Voices Award, Wing Alex Award, Puddly Award, etc. The novel was also released as an audiobook read by Khaled himself. It was also adapted into a movie of the same name that was released in the year 2007. Actors Bahram and Elham Ehsas were hired to play the characters of Amir and Hassan. Khaled also made a cameo appearance towards the end of the film.

The following novel written by author Khaled Hosseini was titled ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ which was published in 2007 by Riverhead Books. This novel deals with the lives of the central characters Mariam, Tariq, Rasheed and Laila and is set in Kabul and Herat. Just like the first novel, this novel was also full of fascinating, disturbing, and beautiful descriptions of the author. showcases thirty years of Afghan history along with a story about friendship, family, salvation, and faith. laila and mariam are shown as two women from different generations and with different ideas about family and love. the two grow closer due to losses. They continue to caress the dangers that surround them on the streets of Kabul, forcing them to share a bond of sisters as well as mother and daughter. they are shown performing heroic deeds to ward off dangers and sacrifice themselves out of love for their family. They survive to the end for love. This novel also garnered a few awards, including the Book Sense Award for Book of the Year, as well as nominations for the Abraham Lincoln Award and a few others. The novel is in talks to be made into a film, and all rights have been purchased by Columbia Pictures and producer Scott Rudin.
