Lee Hollis is the pseudonym used by the brother and sister of writers named Rick Copp and Holly Simason. the couple has written a successful series of novels consisting of 6 mystery novels. the series is called ‘hayley powell food & cocktail mystery’ and features main character hayley powell, owner of a food and cocktail shop. As of now, the mystery series consists of 6 novels, but they have announced that they will release 3 more books in the series for 2016. Rick says he dreamed of becoming an author at a very young age. he began his hobby writing television scripts for old television series in the fifth grade. his interest in television allowed him to embark on a career as a professional screenwriter for television series. The author has described Hayley as a small-town columnist who always finds herself on the other side of the deadline whenever a murder mystery occurs in town. The author has also described the town of Bar Harbor as an idyllic coastal region. Hayley is presented as a single mother who is always busy with some or other tasks that her boss hands her on island times. she is assigned a new task to take charge of the newspaper’s food column. A rival food writer named Karen Appelbaum is found dead face down in a bowl of clam chowder, which was described by Hayley in her food column. as a result, she becomes the prime suspect in the murder. she herself begins to carry out the investigations to clear her name of her murder. she gets help from her best friends, a glamorous real estate agent and a lobster woman who is pregnant. Investigations lead Hayley to a growing list of suspects and reveal terrifying secrets about the victim. Hayley begins to realize that she has gotten herself into a dangerous situation with a brutal killer.

The second novel in the series was published in 2012 by the Kensington publishing house. it was titled ‘the death of a fried redneck’. The plot of this novel continues with the depiction of the mysterious life of the main character, Hayley Powell, who works as a food and cocktail columnist for the Island Times in Maine. She thinks she’s done solving murders in Maine and decides to move south. however, there she awaits another recipe for disaster. Being a single mother of a teenage daughter and a columnist, she always keeps Hayley busy with deadlines and taking care of her daughter, who aspires to become a singer-songwriter. Soon, a country music superstar named Wade Springer comes into town and Hayley is asked to be the American idol’s personal chef. wade is so impressed by her home cooking that she hires her to be her chef and also invites her to dinner alone with him. wade and hayley seem to be getting closer. however, a dead body appears causing a change of events. The corpse is found to be that of a roadie named Mickey Pritchett, believed to have been set on fire by Wade’s tour bus. However, Mickey was shot to death and had his mouth stuffed with Hayley’s trademark chicken feet. Soon, it is revealed that Mickey already had several enemies in town due to his drinking habits. Hayley finds it necessary to investigate the matter on her own and find the real killer since Wade’s reputation is at stake.
