Leon Uris was one of America’s most renowned authors who was well known for writing several successful novels based on historical fiction and literature & fiction genres. He was particularly famous for his novels titled Trinity and Exodus. Before turning to writing as a career, author Uris served in the Marine Corps during World War II. after that, he used to work for a newspaper agency and write in his spare time. At first, Uris did not take his writing seriously until one of his articles was bought by Esquire magazine. Uris’s mother was of Russian American descent. he later spoke to his father that his father faced harsh realities and failures in tsarist russia because he was a Jew and this had made him very bitter.

At the age of 6, author Uris was inspired by the death of his dog and wrote an operetta. His parents enrolled him in some schools in Baltimore and Norfolk, Virginia, but he never completed his high school graduation. In fact, Uris failed the English subject three times. He was 17 years old and a senior in high school when Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbor. After this, he enlisted in the United States Army Marine Corps. Uris went on to serve with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines in the South Pacific. During that time, he was posted as a radio operator in New Zealand. Uris served between 1942 and 1944. In between, he suffered from malaria, dengue, and relapses of asthma.
