Leon Uris was one of America’s most renowned authors who was well known for writing several successful novels based on historical fiction and literature & fiction genres. He was particularly famous for his novels titled Trinity and Exodus. Before turning to writing as a career, author Uris served in the Marine Corps during World War II. after that, he used to work for a newspaper agency and write in his spare time. At first, Uris did not take his writing seriously until one of his articles was bought by Esquire magazine. Later, he became more interested in the subject of Israel and this motivated him to carry out extensive research work on his novel Exodus. after spending a couple of years in research work, he was finally able to write and publish the novel with great success. author uris began his career as a published author with the novel titled ‘battle cry’ which was published in the year 1953. the last novel written by him, ‘o’hara’s choice’ came out in the year 2003. author uris was born on the 3rd of August 1924 and died on June 21, 2003. His birth had taken place in Baltimore, Maryland, United States; in an American Jewish family. his father, wolf william, was an immigrant from poland and used to work as a money changer and storekeeper. Uris’s mother was of Russian American descent. he later spoke to his father that his father faced harsh realities and failures in tsarist russia because he was a Jew and this had made him very bitter.
At the age of 6, author Uris was inspired by the death of his dog and wrote an operetta. His parents enrolled him in some schools in Baltimore and Norfolk, Virginia, but he never completed his high school graduation. In fact, Uris failed the English subject three times. He was 17 years old and a senior in high school when Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbor. After this, he enlisted in the United States Army Marine Corps. Uris went on to serve with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines in the South Pacific. During that time, he was posted as a radio operator in New Zealand. Uris served between 1942 and 1944. In between, he suffered from malaria, dengue, and relapses of asthma. As a result, he had to miss the battalion’s decimation on Saipan. author uris was then sent to san francisco for better malaria treatment. There he met a Marine sergeant named Betty Beck, whom he married in 1945. When he finished his service, Uris began working for a newspaper. he used to write articles, mainly about his experiences during the war.

Many critics believe that Uris was so interested and motivated by the plot of the Israel-based novel that he financed the entire cost of his research at his own expense. Eventually, the author Uris spent 2 years researching for Exodus and finally published it in the year 1958. After the success of this novel, the author Uris published some of his other later works, all of which helped him increase the popularity of him as author. Uris was married 3 times in his life. With his first wife, Betty Beck, he had 3 children. Majorie Edwards was his second wife to commit suicide, after which she married Jill Peabody. this marriage also ended in a divorce like his first marriage. Altogether, the author Uris had 5 children. Uris died of kidney failure at his home on Long Island. her body was cremated in the quantum cemetery. Some of the articles by author Leon Uris are preserved at the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas.
