Lindsay went on to serve as one of Afla’s first female fencers for saber and épée fencing. as these weapons were heavy enough for women to handle, they were not allowed to use them. but she lindsay was different from the other women. she even she fought against men and won almost half of her fight against them. her later, she volunteered as a firefighter after leaving the military and going back to being a civilian. this time she too, she was the first woman to be part of an all-male fire department in ohio, where she served for a period of 3 years. her opportunity allowed her to become not only a local firefighting expert, but also a trunk and tanker engine driver. she even trained herself in handling hazardous materials. Nearly all of author Lindsay’s books reflect everything she has experienced during her field service.
