- lone dove: Set in the late 19th century, this is the story of a cattle drive from Texas to Montana. it’s a drive that represents for everyone involved not just a daring, even reckless, adventure, but a part of the American dream: trying to forge a new life in the last remaining desert. Augustus McCrae and W. F. call are former texas rangers, associates and friends who have shared hardships and dangers together without understanding (or wanting to understand) each other’s deepest emotions.

Riding with Call is an east-town hipster, goofy deputy, and one of the last members of the Hat Creek crew, Pea Eye Parker, now married to Lorraine, once Gus McCrae’s girlfriend. this long chase takes them through the last wild reaches of the west to a hell known as crow town and finally to the vast and unforgiving plains of the texas frontier.
