Eventually, Pru Parke becomes involved in the London police’s workplace investigation of her. She in particular is appalled by the sternness of Detective Chief Inspector Christopher Pearse, whom she also finds quite handsome and attractive. And though Pearse tries very hard, she seems unable to protect Pru from the brutal killer, who seems infuriated by his digs and finds.

The second novel in the series by author Marty Wingate was published under the title “The Red Book of Primrose House”. It was published by Alibi publishing house in the year 2014. The plot of this novel continues to deal with the main characters named Pru Parke and Inspector Christopher Pearse and it is set in Sussex, England. In the opening sequence of the novel’s plot, Pru is described as having managed to get a job as head gardener at one of the 18th century stately homes called Primrose House in Sussex. The landscape of the house was established by a well-known designer named Humphry Repton in the year 1806 in one of his famous red books. After learning of this, the new owners of the house hire Pru Parke to restore it to its former glory as soon as possible, as they planned to represent it a year from now during a summer party. However, events in Pru Parke’s life get in the way of his plans. she seems distracted by the charm of the handsome detective inspector, lazy and at the same time, tries to delve into the mystery of her British roots. when it appears that she is making considerable progress in her endeavors, every one of her projects is wrecked and shattered by chaos. this is followed by the sudden death of one of her workers, which worries her even more. Even though the police find a suspect, Pru seems certain that the real killer is still in sight. As a result, she finds herself embroiled in wild and evil intentions, with only Detective Inspector Pearse to back her up. With her help, Pru Parke intends to find out the real killer and at the same time complete the Primrose House project before the deadline.
