Hamilton then asks Kelsey to go diving, noting that her partner and regular driver, Chris Hensel, has already disappeared. Mac is the sheriff and he wakes up on a cold night to the sad news of losing his wife. the shots in his dream turn into someone knocking on his door. but he goes out to deal with more stowaways on the train. he is sad to see older men without hope, but this time he sees a young woman and her child. Although Bose, a man who works for the railroad, demands justice, McKaslin cannot put the woman in jail.

mac decides to take the woman to her parents. however, the woman, carrie montgomery, thinks mac wants to leave her daughter there and put her in jail. she however, is relieved to find out that she can stay there tonight. To her surprise, Carrie isn’t jailed, but instead ends up helping out at the bakery that very day. Seeing this, all the townspeople, including her parents, believe that she is courting her. Mac decides to buy Carrie a train ticket, since he can’t handle the memory of her that assails him when he’s around her. carrie will be out of mac’s life as soon as the snow clears the tracks so she can go back to feeling nothing.
