At that time, she was the only woman Rafe had ever loved deeply and also the only one he had ever despised. but she had left him heartbroken for reasons she knew best. Margot Ashton is presented in the plot of the novel as a lady who desperately wants to forget her terrible past and also as the man responsible for wronging her.

In their attempt to save their homeland, Rafe and Margot enter into a dangerous plot that may escalate into a deadly war. they are also bound by the feeling of love and passion for each other. The novel was successful with readers just like the first novel and the author Mary was praised for her efforts and her exceptional writing. the characters seemed real and strong. got a lot of motivation from the overwhelming response from readers and critics. this allowed him to write other successful novels as well.
