magicbooks mod 1.12.2 adds four books to minecraft that can be found in chests around the world. When a player right-clicks with a book in hand, he gains a skill point for that item that can be spent to unlock spells. some features may be more difficult to understand.

elements:
- book of air: right click to gain an air skill point
- book of earth: right click to gain a ground skill point
- book fire: right click to gain a fire skill point
- water book: right click to gain a water skill point
- arcana book: right click to gain an arcane skill point
- magic book: open spell GUI, click on spell icons to unlock spells with skill points
- spell bag : large inventory just for storing spells
- shards: mined from their respective ores and used in crafting recipes and mana creation
- wands: right click to cast a spell unlocked when a spell item is in the hotbar slot to the left of the wand, the wand item, and the eleme nth of the spell must match
- air spike: when the player receives mana from air, this spike also acts as a magnet that uses the wind to pull objects towards it
- air spike earth – mines in a large area when the player is infused with wit h earth mana
- fire spike: automatically smelts ores when the player receives an infusion of fire mana
- water pickaxe: replaces mined obsidian with water when the player receives an infusion of water mana
- axes: currently all axes are good durability and speed tools. they will get special abilities in the future
- crystal bonder: used only to bond crystals of the same element to each other
blocks:
- greater crystals: insert a shard of the corresponding item in the GUI to generate mana
- crystals: used to transport mana, no GUI, automatically connects to the nearest larger crystal
- pedestals: used in rituals to make blocks/items
- shard blocks: used as a crafting component and storage block
- mana platform: stand on a mana platform to infuse the player with mana. this is how you get mana to cast spells and use the special abilities of tools. mana pads will automatically drain mana from the nearest crystal
- ore: mine ore shards for shards
spells:
air:
- lightning spell: use to hurt the observed block or entity
- invisibility spell: use to turn invisible
land:
- growth spell: cast on crops to make them grow faster
- wall spell: summon a wall of dirt wall blocks in front of you, these blocks will disappear after a short period of time
fire:
- fireblast: sets all surrounding mobs on fire
water:
- bubble: be completely invulnerable for a few seconds
runes:
all runes automatically draw mana from the nearest crystal that matches their element
- Drowning Rune: Will deal drowning damage to mobs on top and prevent them from moving
- Wood Rune: Cut down surrounding trees using earth mana. place an adjacent inventory to store items in it

how to use:
crafting ritual:
The layout of the crafting ritual is as follows:
- the air pedestal faces east and the space between all crystals and pedestals is 2 blocks.
- all ritual crafting recipes are present in jei. the format is that the top slot is the pedestal of air and the other slots are in their relative positions according to the ritual in the world. the number above each slot is the mana for each element required in the respective crystal for the ritual to succeed.
- note that the position of the larger crystals is not important. it is only important that the normal crystals and pedestals are placed correctly.
