Mitch Rapp Series Order

Last Updated Oct 5, 2021 When it comes to the vince flynn mitch rap series, I’d strongly say it’s a must read them in order, but we’ll talk about that a bit more below.

Here is the Mitch Rap series in order (chronological order) by author Vince Flynn. the order of publication is a bit different in that 2 books were written much later in the series, however they are actually prequels to the series as they depict a young mitch, who just got his job and begins its first assignments.

should we read the mitch rap series in order?

Do you have that feeling of starting to read a book only to find out it’s the fifth in a popular series and now you don’t understand what’s going on, what have you missed in terms of plot and who the heck? are these characters anyway?

well I honestly hate it, especially when I get references to things that happened in previous books and now I need to go back and read the series from the beginning to get those references in the first place. That’s why I love reading the Mitch Rapp series in order (although that doesn’t necessarily have to be read chronologically. If you’re starting the series, start with American Assassin before anything else).

I’ve read all of mitch rap’s books in the correct reading order (well, except for the two published out of order mentioned above), so I’m saying yes, we should read them in order. It’s not just about the character development in the books, but also the fact that a lot of the plotlines actually build on top of each other. so it’s easier to follow the thread, so to speak, if one reads the books in order.

The mitch rapp series is one of my favorites in the modern spy thriller genre. Vince Flynn really knew how to write her books (sadly, she passed away in 2013 from prostate cancer at the young age of 47).

I’ve also read his standalone novel, Term Limits, another spy thriller worth watching.

i first came across this series years ago after reading books by robert ludlum, tom clancy and john le carre (actually john le carre was my first introduction to spy novels). I got hooked.

read about the cold war, about the fight of one country against another with means other than pure war, about riddles to be solved, heroes to be made and countries to be saved, about the cia and other “fun” international agencies …i was hooked from the start.

vince flynn published a great series on mitch rapp, a prolific undercover cia counterterrorism agent who is literally terrorism’s worst nightmare. he always cracks the cases, which makes him equally loved, feared, and hated by the politicians on capitol hill.

American Assassin American Assassin, the first book written in the Mitch Rapp series, is now a movie made in 2017 with Dylan O’Brien, Michael Keaton, and Sanaa Lathan. While both the book and the movie are great, they both have some major differences, which is something that many book readers don’t find pleasing.

for example, in the American assassin movie, there is a bomb, which is not present in the book. furthermore, the ghost, which appears in the film, does not exist at all in the book. in fact, there are a lot of things in the movie that the books don’t include at all. Furthermore, the main motivation for Mitch Rapp’s anti-terrorist operation is the 1988 locker bombing, this is replaced in the film with a terrorist attack on the beach where his girlfriend to whom he just proposed to is killed. Last but not least, the Deputy Director of the CIA in the book is a tough, badass woman who really helps the books shine. In the movie, although the actress who played her was good, she still lacked something from her character. maybe because they had to squeeze a lot of paper into a two-hour movie.

Personally, I enjoyed both the American Killer book and movie for what they are, so I didn’t feel too bad about the many differences between a book and a movie. okay, it’s been a good while (translate too many years) since I’ve read the book, so I was a bit fuzzy on the details anyway. therefore, there wasn’t much to complain about in the first place.

should you read vince flynn’s american killer before watching the movie? I don’t think it’s necessary, but if you enjoy the mitch rap series of books, you might as well.

about vince flynn

Vince Flynn author of the Mitch Rapp seriesVince Flynn was born in 1966 in Saint Paul, Minnesota as the fifth of seven children. In 1984 he graduated from Saint Thomas Academy, and in 1988 he graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in economics.

Once she finished school, she began working for Kraft Foods as a Sales and Marketing Specialist. I found this information quite interesting, as I also worked for a Kraft Foods competitor, for Unilever, in a very similar position for several years. Of course, he could not have known the author since he was living in Europe at the time.

He worked for the kraft food company until 1990, when he changed careers with the intention of becoming a US Navy pilot. unfortunately, because the author was diagnosed with concussions and seizures that he experienced growing up, he was disqualified from the marine aviation program just a week before he was due to go to officer candidate school, which is a training program that aims to assess potential Marine Corps officers.

The author also had dyslexia. In the past, there wasn’t as much information about dyslexia, but Vince was trying to overcome it by maintaining a strict daily regimen of reading and writing. During this time he fell in love with books and decided to become a writer as well.

Meanwhile, to pay his bills, and since he could no longer work with the Marine Corps, he went to work at United Properties as a commercial real estate leasing agent, a job that could prove quite lucrative for him.

eventually, he quit his job, moved to colorado and started writing books full time. He wrote and self-published his first novel, Term Limits. The hardcover edition of the book was eventually published by Paperbacks, part of the Simon & Schuster Publisher. The book appeared on the New York Times bestseller list for several weeks.

I really wanted to continue writing books, especially since several of his early novels, including transfer of power, the third option and separation of power i> they were all on the new york best seller list.

In 2010, the author was diagnosed with a rare form of prostate cancer. While receiving treatment, he continued to write his best-selling novels. Over the years, he has written 14 books, 13 of which are part of his popular Mitch Rap series. the last book he was working on, which he couldn’t complete before his passing, the survivor (he only managed to write the first few chapters), was finally completed by kyle mills, who has, in the meantime, written two mitch additional. rap books, with the latest, enemy of the state, being published in 2017. kyle mills was asked to finish the survivor and write two new books for vince flynn’s estate and simon & schuster.

If you’re reading the Vince Flynn books in order, it’s worth picking up the Kyle Mills books as well. I’ve read them and honestly haven’t found much of a difference in writing style between the two authors. kyle mills definitely knows how to do the show justice.

one of the things kyle mills did was read the mitch rapp series in chronological order for all the books and write no less than 150 pages of notes on the author’s style, characters and most used words.

in an interview, kyle mills said:

As a Vince Flynn fan, you get to know and love that character. as an author, you need to create that. I would hate to pick up a mitch rapp (book) and have it not feel authentic.

Vince Flynn’s books are pretty accurate. In fact, George W. Bush once mentioned about the author that in his books he got too close to the real truth about how the CIA operated around the world.

The author mentioned in an interview that his books are “entertainment, education, and serve as cautionary tales.”

The first book in the thriller series is Transfer of Power, which is actually the second book written by the author.

His books sold more than 15 million books in the United States alone. Two former presidents, George W. bush and bill clinton were among his serious fans.

before he died, the author lived with his wife, lysa, and their three children in st. paul in minneapolis. The author died in 2013 after a hard two-year battle with his cancer, which has since metastasized.
