The Smuttiest, Spiciest Erotic Novels According to BookTok | Glamour

The world of smut is vast and varied, ranging from mainstream porn to erotic novels, erotic audio, fan fiction, and that sports team mascot who just does it for you, for some reason.

Do you know how things work on a conventional porn website? Do you want your imaginary stepfather to drown you? Do you want to see the most horrible sex you can imagine in an old warehouse? Do you want to constantly lose the thread of the narrative because you wonder if the actors are paid competitive and fair wages? Ethical, enthusiastic, and consensual female porn does of course exist, but it’s not always easy to find.

on the other hand… welcome to spicy booktok, the tiktok community focused on erotic novels and stories where a woman with flattering glasses will talk in a soothing voice about genres called fae porn and praise kink. they got jokes. they have feelings. obtained ultraspecific scenarios. what if you teamed up with your enemy to overthrow an evil regime and then you had to take shelter from passing guards in a cave and in the dark he tripped and cut his thigh on a sharp rock and you had to bandage his wound but you only one spare piece of cloth was your corset? so what??? spicy booktok is the sister kingdom of the smutty queens of bookstagram. both kingdoms are dominated by women. and both tend to celebrate weirdness, fatness, and people of color with less tokenization than other erotic communities.

Yes, it feels strange to call women who publicly describe their post-read underwear as “gloping and gloopy” a sign of radical progress. but this is a phenomenon of women forming networks to tell each other what turns them on. Kimiya, also known as kktreads, even argues that darker erotic novels can seem therapeutic “for those who have experienced sexual assault in their life, or those who may have darker sexual appetites and want to learn about and explore them in a safe environment.” and controlled. Says Ayman, who has a booktok audience of over half a million, “reading romance and anything raunchy has taught me so much more about myself and my sexuality than any textbook or sex ed class.”

give me your best friend (a touch of taboo) by katee robert

katee robert’s a touch of taboo series has to be the raunchiest and horniest books I’ve read in the last two years, and they’re great because of the diversity they contain. each book explores a specific unconventional (or taboo) relationship and different sexual appetites in a healthy, consensual environment. what could not be loved?! for dark romance, hooked by emily mcintire and the cat and mouse duo by h.d. Carlton are two amazing books. (I always advise everyone to check activation warnings and content warnings before reading dark romance!) —kimiya from kktreads

it happened one summer by tessa bailey

I recommend It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey. It’s the first book I’ve read of hers, and oh my god, it was amazing. is a cute but very hot romantic story about an l.a. A wild girl named Piper who is sent to a fishing town called Westport to manage her late father’s dive bar and learn to be independent. She is met with not the warmest of welcomes by none other than a grumpy young fisherman named Brendan. this book gave me butterflies. the jokes between them were incredibly cute. For example, Piper only knew how to cook pasta, and she cooked it for Brendan for three days straight. she was tired of it, obviously, but she would eat him every day for the rest of her life if he made her happy. tell me isn’t it cute? I came this close to moving to a small town to try to find a young fisherman after reading this book. Also, the spicy scenes that happened between them? oof, I definitely blushed reading them. This book is an easy read, swoon-worthy, and super hot and steamy. —jayde de jaydeclément

brutal prince by sophie lark

The queen of the mafia romance subgenre is easily sophie lark. each of her books features a different romantic trope and a different twist, so there’s something for everyone. Trust me, her books are not only completely addictive and super raunchy, they feature tough women bringing strong men to their knees! She starts with Brutal Prince, which is an arranged marriage romance from enemies to lovers.

Honestly, it’s weird how people forget that historical romances can be raunchy! The Secret by Julie Garwood was written way back in 1992, but the squabbles faded into this will make any fan of Outlander and Bridgerton swoon on the spot. This romance is about a grumpy Scottish laird who falls in love with a feisty English lady, and believe me, this man knows how to please his wife. but beware, after finishing this book i was tempted to spend all the money i don’t have on a plane ticket to scotland. —madison from pocket princess
