Paula Fox was an award-winning and popular American author who enjoyed writing books for children and adults, as well as memoirs. she had made outstanding contributions to the genre of children’s books, for which she was awarded the biennial hans christian prize in 1978. this is the highest international award given to a creator of children’s books. Author Fox had also won several other prestigious awards in her career, particularly for her children’s books, including the Newbery Medal, the National Book Prize, and the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis. In 2011, author Fox was inducted into the New York State Writers Hall of Fame. The adult novels written by Fox were not printed beyond 1992 as they failed to attract any audiences. another reason was the growing popularity of children’s books written by her. In the mid-1990s, Fox saw a revival of her books for adults by her as they were championed by a number of aspiring American writers. Author Fox was born on April 22, 1923, in New York City, New York, United States. Her death occurred on March 1, 2017, in Brooklyn, New York, at the age of 93. Fox’s mother, named Elsie de Sola, was a Cuban screenwriter, while her father, named Paul Hervey Fox, taught English and wrote screenplays. After divorcing her mother, Fox’s father had married another woman named Mary, with whom he had a daughter and 3 sons. Thus, the author Fox had 4 step-siblings. author fox was rejected by her mother at the time of her birth and she was left in an orphanage. she was finally rescued by her maternal grandmother named candelaria de sola. Later, Ella Fox lived with her grandmother while she moved around Cuba, Florida and the United States. Since Candelaria was unable to provide a home for Fox, she gave her up to Reverand Corning in Balmville, New York. It was Reverand Corning who taught author Fox important life lessons and also treated her with love and affection. When Fox was 5 years old, she went to meet her parents, but they did not treat her well. her mother considered her a prisoner of war. Fox later described this incident in one of her memoirs as quite a traumatic experience.
During the year 1944, author Fox lived in the home of a popular acting coach named Stella Adler. He had become close to another Adler student, who used to live with her in the same house. Ultimately, Fox became pregnant and gave birth to a girl. the child was given up for adoption. The girl, Linda Carroll, grew up to become a famous psychotherapist and author. A famous musician named Courtney Love is the daughter of Linda and the granddaughter of author Fox. Furthermore, popular French visual artist Bean Cobain is his great-granddaughter. Author Fox completed her graduation from Columbia University. She later married a man named Richard Sigerson and had a couple of children with him. Sometime later, Fox married for the second time, to a translator and literary critic named Martin Greenberg. For many years, author Fox worked as a tutor and teacher for troubled children. it was only when he reached the age of 40 that he decided to try writing novels. His first book, Poor George, published in 1967, tells the story of a cynical teacher, who finds purpose while mentoring a homeless student. This novel was very well received by critics and was considered the best novel published in a long time. Despite favorable reviews and praise, Fox was unable to sell many copies. the same pattern was later followed by all the other adult novels he wrote. Over the course of the following years, author Fox came up with many best-selling books. Her popularity as an author continued to rise, and by the early 21st century, she had successfully established herself as a leading author. Jonathan Franzen defended the author Fox, who made sure that some of her novels were republished.

With each passing day, the horrors of the slave trade became more inescapable and more vivid for Jessie Bollier. but she did not affect the merchants, as they only cared about their profits. And so they kept making Jessie work hard. In the end, Jessie was about to experience the ultimate horror after living through 4 months of calculated torture, dangerous sailing, and fear. This horror seemed to live with Jessie for the remaining days of her life.

The main characters in this novel, as described by author Fox, include Laura Maldonada Clapper, Desmond Clapper, Clara Hansen, Carlos, and Peter Rice. At the beginning of the book’s story, Laura Maldonada and her husband, Desmond Clapper, are depicted as about to go on a trip to Africa. They await the arrival of their friends, Carlos, Peter Rice and Clara Hansen, in a hotel room in New York City. Clara is Laura’s daughter from her first marriage, while Carlos is her charming and flamboyant brother. Peter Rice is an editor Laura hasn’t seen in over a year. As the journey begins, the happy situation turns into a claustrophobic clash of family resentments. and the clash continues from the hotel room to the restaurant that the 5 visit. finally, laura maldonada decides to inform everyone that the matriarch of the family and her mother has died of a heart attack in the morning. overall, the book is full of intense plot and interesting characters.
