Teaching children to recognize and celebrate diversity and accept differences is essential for healthy development; It not only helps children to be more accepting of others, but also to accept themselves and their own strengths and weaknesses. this collection of diversity picture books is about acknowledging what makes you special, celebrating who you are, and celebrating the uniqueness of everyone around you: family, friends, and the wider community.

This is a large and diverse list. includes picture books that are suitable for reading with young children all the way up to older elementary/primary (and dare I say, even high school) students. includes books on how to accept differences in gender, race, religion, language, appearance, and abilities.
