robert lynn asprin was an american author famous for his science fiction and fantasy novels. he wrote many standalone novels like tmabu and the bug wars, cold cash war, the duncan and mallory series, however he was best known for his amazing and humorous phule’s company series and the mythical adventures of aahz and skeeve. He also wrote a bestselling novel, Time Scout, with another writer, Linda Evans. He was responsible for editing the groundbreaking World of Thieves anthology series, which he did with his then-wife Lynn Abbey. His other collaborations include many myth adventure novels and License Invoked, which is set in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

robert asprin was born in st. Johns, Michigan, where he attended the University of Michigan in 1964. In later years, after college, he served in the United States Army. he had two marriages from which he had two children. he was active in the society for creative anachronism, under the name “yang the nauseating”. He was also active in science fiction fandom and co-founded the Great Dark Horde in 1971. He was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation for his brilliant work ‘The Capture’, an animated show he wrote with Phil Foglio. .

Robert Asprin wrote his first novel, The Cold Cash War, which was an expansion of one of his earlier short stories with the same title. It was published in 1977. It is a science fiction novel set in a dystopian future where a corporation known as the Zaibatsu competes from the economic to the military. the novel is considered to be one of the most progressive novels with great vision and futuristic details.

His other work was The Thieve’s World Series, which he created and edited with his wife Lynn Abbey in 1978. It is a notable shared world anthology series known as the first project of its kind. asprin’s last project, which he wrote with eric del carlo, was not quarter. It was later edited by Teresa Patterson. All Out is a dark fantasy and thriller that includes a devastating murder mystery. It was set in the French Quarter of New Orleans, and elements of the novel contain black magic, voodoo, precognition, and tarot readings. the entire novel revolves around a brutal murder, which is the main focus of the plot. the main characters in the novel are master and bone, who also appear in the dragon novel as minor characters.

his other work includes bug wars (1979), mirror friend, mirror foe (1979), tambu (1979), for king and country (2002) and many more. He also wrote some short stories such as Two Masters of the Trade, the Ex-Khan, both published in 1987, A Harmless Outing and Mythification of Dreamland published in 1988 and 2004 respectively.

Robert Asprin died on May 22, 2008 at his home from a myocardial infarction at the age of 61. His glasses and a Terry Pratchett novel were found next to his body. the following weekend, he was to receive the guest of honor at the marcon. his family donated his archive to the rare book and special collections department at the university of northern illinois.

He may have written several outstanding novels, but The Adventures of Myths and The Company of Phul are considered his best works. Phule, the son of a millionaire weapons manufacturer who reforms a group of misfits into the space legion. early in the book, he was court-martialed by the space legion for strafing. the book follows his struggle to become one of the most iconoclastic leaders of the space legion depicted in a very humorous way.

The book is narrated by the butler of the phule. The novel consists of cheerful characters with endearing personalities and full character development that made the book fun to read. Phule’s company received universal acclaim and made the New York Times bestseller list.
