Born in 1964 on August 6, Sara Blaedel grew up in Copenhagen, a city and environment that would accompany her for much of her career, providing a major source of inspiration for much of her writing to follow. As her mother read Agatha Christie novels aloud to her from an early age, she quickly developed a particular fondness for the crime thriller genre, assimilating the way it was structured and shaped. This soon paved the way for her career as an adult writer, as she turned to writing and, in the process, she moved to the forefront of the thriller industry.

sara currently lives in north copenhagen and lives with her family to this day while continuing to write and create beloved crime novels. With a variety of other passions too, like acting as an ambassador for save the children or judging a documentary competition, she always manages to keep herself busy. As her writing career grows, she always manages to find something to occupy her, all while continuing to focus on her number one passion, which is and always will be writing.

Being the third book in the Louise Rick series, it manages to continue from the last, while at the same time not alienating newcomers to the franchise. it’s easily accessible and openly available for any new reader to get started, without them needing any prior knowledge of what’s going on.
Taking a look at Copenhagen’s immigrant community, Rick must this time investigate the case of a drowned girl who is discovered dead in Holbraek Fjord. This young woman named Samra was of immigrant background and it was believed that she may have been killed by her father in a so-called “honor killing”. However, the truth of the matter will come to light, and once Samra’s friend, dictate, is also found dead shortly after, it’s up to Louise Rick to get to the bottom of the tragedy. why do these murders occur? who could possibly be motivated to commit such a heinous crime? what could be more horrible than taking just one life?
the forgotten girls
Initially published in 2011, it was recently released in the US through Grand Central Publisher on January 3, 2015. As this is the seventh book in the Louise Rick series, it means that the franchise is well underway, with the style and tone, along with character, is firmly established. That’s not to say the book isn’t easy enough to read for newcomers, as it’s yet another stand-alone case for the now-missing Commander Louise Rick to investigate.
despite not being reported missing, an unidentified woman is discovered dead in a forest in denmark, with a large scar on her face. with louise rick later in the case a photo is released to the media and after a call from an elderly woman the victim is identified as lisemette. however, what is really striking is that apparently she used to be in a mental institution when she was a child, being one of the “forgotten children” that her family had left there. Why then is there a death certificate issued thirty years ago for her and her twin? who could have committed the recent murder? What could be behind the terrible tragedy of the forgotten girls?
