s.j. Rozan is one of America’s award-winning thriller and detective novel authors. She lives in New York City and is particularly famous for writing the Lydia China and Bill Smith series of novels. Author Rozan has also co-authored a series of paranormal thrillers with author Carlos Dews under the pseudonym Sam Cabot. Author Rozan was born Shira Judith Rozan in 1950 in the Bronx, New York. she has a brother and a couple of sisters, with whom she grew up in the bronx. Since her childhood, she has a passion for playing basketball. she completed her graduation from oberlin college and earned her bachelor’s degree from her. Later, Ella Rozan joined the State University of New York at Buffalo and earned her master’s degree in architecture. Author Rozan considers herself a New Yorker for life and resides in lower Manhattan. After her graduation, Rozan began her career in the field of architecture. but before that, she worked a number of odd jobs including jewelry sales, painter, janitor, bakery, book sales, copywriting, as well as self-defense instructor. After starting out as an architect, Rozan became a project manager for a firm in New York. she used to work mainly on the projects that were socially useful. Rozan said that at one point, her life was exactly how she wanted it to be, but she wasn’t making her happy. this allowed him to try his luck with the idea of writing crime novels. she was already excited about this idea for a long time, as she liked to read crime fiction books, but she couldn’t find time to write a book of her own due to her busy schedules. Most of the books written by author Rozan take place in New York City, or at least start from there. Ella’s private detective series features main characters like Bill Smith and Lydia Chin. the books in the series feature changing points of view between these two characters. Regarding the characters, the author Rozan said that Lydia Chin is like her when she was her age. she is full of high energy, optimism and she believes that her efforts can help save the world. on the other hand, bill smith is like what is rub right now. he has been through a lot of bad things in his life that have taught him a lot of lessons about life and living.
In 2013, Rozan teamed up with Carlos Dews and wrote a book that is said to take place in Rome. serves as the first in a series of interesting historical thrillers. Aside from crime novels, author Rozan also writes haiku, which she posts regularly on her weekend blogs. she rozan she says that haiku are composed as she watches them, but they are not written until the moment she gets home. The author Rozan is always involved in giving guest lectures, speaking on various topics, and teaching a wide range of subjects. in 2003, she was invited as a speaker at the annual meeting of the world economic forum in davos, switzerland. rozan was also convened at the atlantic arts center in 2006. the other popular event she had the opportunity to attend is the national book festival in 2009. author rozan was featured as a keynote speaker at the ccw conference in 2011 She has achieved the feat of being Writer-in-Residence at the University of Singapore and as Author-in-Residence and Guest Instructor at the Novel in Progress BookCamp in 2014. Her literary career has been made even more special and successful due to the various awards won by her, including edgar, macavity, nero, shamus, and anthony. She has also received the Maltese Falcom Award from Japan.

lydia’s chin & bill smith series written by s.j. Rozan is made up of 11 books in total, which were published between the years of 1994 and 2011. The main protagonists are Lydia Chin, a Chinese-American private detective in her mid-thirties, and Bill Smith, an ex-military man and private detective in his forties. They both live and work as PI in New York City. an initial book published in this series is titled ‘mandarin plaid’. It was published by St Martin’s Pocket Books in the year 1997. The main characters in this book include John Ryan, Bill Smith, Lydia Chin, Chin Yong-yun and Genna Jing. Author Rozan has set the plot in Manhattan, New York, United States. At the beginning of the book, Lydia Chin is shown to have come a long way from the dreary and crowded ateliers where her mother used to see the heady world of fashion. Worlds in New York City often collide and a little pi like Lydia Chin often gets the chance to rub shoulders with the poor, the rich, the depraved and the beautiful in this city. the elegant genna jing introduces himself as a designer. she is sure that his recent designs will bring her a fortune. but, they are stolen, and the thief asks her for fifty grand to return the design book, which she agrees to pay for. Lydia and Smith are tasked with making the delivery. but, as soon as they arrive at the place, everything begins to twist. A simple extortion case that seemed easy to solve turns into a difficult one, leading Smith and Lydia to Chinatown and Park Avenue in search of clues related to the murder.
The next amazing book to appear in the crime fiction series is titled “there’s no place colder”. It was released in 1998 and features the central characters like Chuck Demattis, Lydia Chin, Mike Dimaio and Billy Smith. At the beginning of this book, Bill Smith is shown working undercover to help an old friend. His friend asks him to investigate a robbery that had taken place at a Manhattan site of the latest Crowell construction project. Bill starts out in a bit of a rusty way, but manages to take control of the situation. at first, he investigates the foreman, who is suspected of involvement in the robbery. Along with him, a crane operator is also under suspicion, but appears to have disappeared with some heavy machinery from the site. Soon, Bill learns of the foreman’s accidental death in a riot, which appears to be a well-orchestrated plan to kill the foreman. bill smith finds himself submerged in the swamp of blackmail, bribery and looking for answers. He is assisted by Lydia Chin, who teams up with him to follow the trails of old-fashioned greed, twisted loyalties, organized crime, etc. the investigation ends in a heart-stopping conclusion.
