It was no surprise when Stephen Hunter emerged as an author, as his mother, Virginia Ricker Hunter, was a children’s book author and his father, Charles Francis Hunter, was a Northwestern University professor who taught speech, television production, and film. Although it is clear that his parents’ careers had a great influence on what the hunter would become, his relationship with his father was very strained. Charles Francis Hunter, being a prominent university professor, frequently physically abused his wife and children. he was an alcoholic who drank to cope with his hidden pains of being gay. Once again someone approaches Bob with a proposal which he accepts, this time it is a young man, Russ, who is only interested in writing the story about the death of Bob’s father. The more Russ digs into the details of the event, the more startling revelations emerge. It gives readers a closer look at the life of the main character, Bob Swagger.
